My wife just told me she has Orange Bowl Tix for us

but no other arrangements. I need help.
Do we fly, drive, take a charter, etc.? My thinking is to just drive and sleep in the truck (not cuz I have the poor but because I have the cheap). But Miami isn't a place I would feel comfortable with that. Please respond with SRS and nonSRS answers. SRS with receive TU. NonSRS probably will too. TIMFA

Number 1 - where are you leaving from?
Number 2 - stay an hour or 2 out.
Number 3 - Try airbnb.com for a place to stay
Number 4 - try kayak or priceline for a place to stay

with gas as cheap as it is right now, drive down and after the game head back up the Interstate about 30-40 miles. You'll be out of the Miami area and rooms will be very, very reasonable.

Thinking we will drive down 12/30 and stay with her. Go to the game and then go back and stay with her after the game. Need to spend time with her so it should be a good trip.

Take your time and enjoy time with the wife. Do a side trip to Daytona Beach or Orlando on the way down and/or on the way back. Take the wife shopping at the St. Augustine outlets right off 95.

Drive it. Find a Wal-Mart and park in a Wal-Mart in a nicer part of town, they let you park there for free and have security you will see RVs and truck park there.

Not sure where your leaving from but

I would leave the day before or the day of and just find a cheap hotel to stay at within an hr or so from the stadium. You can find a decent hotel like Fairfield inn or Days inn charging around 60-80$ a night. Last bowl game i went to i stayed about an hr from the stadium and got the cheapest hotel i could find which was a Fairfield inn at 80$ a night, plus there were Clemson fans everywhere in that hotel & free breakfast. Should be fun for you and the wife, don't pass up on this opportunity.

About $400.
If you fly in , fly into fort Lauderdale and stay just north of ft lt for cheaper room rates.
If you drive and see a wavering rentaminvan honk your horn to wake me up.

Cheapest flights I've seen were ATL to FLL at around $750 for two round trip.
Still undecided. Want to go but don't want to drop 2k.
Some good suggestions in this thread but no way in hell I'm sleeping in a car in a Wally World parking lot - with or without #####

I booked earlier and will stay further up north for under $50. That's on my way anyway as I'll fly to Orlando. Need to keep the budget low just in case we go to Arizona.

Stay near Ft Lauderdale. It's closer to the stadium. Probably a little cheaper too. Don't wait till last minute to leave, factor in traffic . We are on the road now and I-26 East about 5-10 miles before I-95 is basically a parking lot. Heavy traffic.

Howard Johnson Airport Plaza Hotel is $202 on New Years Eve....
Dec 28, 2015, 1:49 PM
|
|
That is IF they still have rooms available.
That's where we found a room - between the airport and the stadium.... no more than 20 minutes away in heavy traffic I'm sure... also not the best section of town (I know because I was in Miami for the game earlier and we drove through the area. But, not a problem unless you're stupid I'd imagine) Flight were around $300 on Travelocity when i booked, but try whatever sites you can. Otherwise drive & plan on traffic delays...still being holidays & a big game full of orange-clad fans. Who cares how fancy just for the night - for a place to crash after the win & big New Years Eve party - I think the room rates were weren't too bad if you shop around, but it is NYE... Good luck! Go Tigers!

I drove to Ft Laudedale last year from Lexinton, sc the drive wasn't to bad, made it in about 8.5 hours, but I only stop for gas and get after on the accelerator pretty good. I would stay at a hotel about an hour outside Miami, you should be able to find a good clean room for Around $100.
