Probably the best decision for Ship and for Clemson. He’s been RB1 for 3 seasons and another year of college ball isn’t going to improve him. It’s not like anyone thinks he’s suddenly be one of the top 5 backs in college ball next year. PLUS shelf life of RBs is really short. He had the benefit of a crystal ball on that last kickoff return and saw his future flash in front of him. He might as well take a shot at the NFL and hopefully his passion/intensity will carry him farther than his talent alone would, and he can have a nice 2-4 year career as a solid contributor in the league. Many guys have done so and created a comfortable life for themselves. As for Clemson I don’t think Ship’s intensity has been helpful to Cade. Cade clearly plays looser with Mafah in the backfield. When Cade plays looser he plays better. This needs to be Cade’s team next year and I don’t think he could be the true alpha with Ship in the locker room. I’m happy for Will and I hope he kicks butt in the NFL.
