Glad to see my team finally get a quality player. You don't know how many drafts I have spent over the past decade hoping the Cowboys would select a Championship Caliber player out of Tiger Town.
Now we have one.
Granted we didn't draft Mitch, but just the chance of him making the squad is good news for me.

really happy him but still shocked that he went undrafted! Maybe not an early round guy but how often do you hear people complain that their quarterback is getting beat-up?

I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t make the squad. Disappointing that Texans didn’t offer him something better or draft him.

I'll take that "technician" anytime . . . and be grateful!!!

May 1, 2019, 7:30 PM

Mitch will be there when the $$$ is bumped in the next contract. He will quietly do his job and come back the next day, and do it again . . . and again . . . and again.

He will get to protect (a) #4 once again. His ability to protect his QB sits @ 99.75%. Can any other LT Drafted boast a success rate higher? Does any LT in the HISTORY OF THE GAME have a better success rate?

Technician?!!!!!!! Yeah, I'll take him and 10 more just like him, everyday!!!!!!!

The Cowboys had their eye him the entire time and let all those teams pass on him. They usually have a good line and have thrown extra money his way; highlighting that they got a steal, while everyone else was asleep at the switch. God works in mysterious ways.

My only wish

May 1, 2019, 5:45 PM

was that he would have gone to the Texans. That O Line needs all the help it can get. No way Mitch wouldn't have been and upgrade somewhere on that line.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing!

They knew that he got screwed over, and sense they were a part of that screw job bc they did have picks in every round like everyone else, they act as if they done him a favor when in fact they contributed in getting the best deal they have ever gotten!!! IMO, they could have paid him a lot more money and they would've still been getting a h&11 of a deal!!!!!

Man had choices and the only way Dallas could pull him in was to offer him more.

Good job, Hyatt.

I think it's a great opportunity for Mitch. His measurable and skill was comparable to Jonah Williams, both are viewed as undersized tackles who will probably need to change positions, but I don't think Mitch has the mean streak of some offensive linemen that you'd like and he's not some physical specimen like a Tyron Smith from Dallas. He's very much a gentle giant, and I think that turned some teams off. I think he could potentially have a really good NFL career as a right tackle, guard, or even a center with the right opportunity. I wish him the best.

Not sure about the difference between Williams and Hyatt. One was drafted in the Top 10 and one not drafted.

Height: Mitch: 6ft 5in; Williams: 6ft 4in – Advantage Mitch
Weight: Mitch: 303 lbs; Williams: 302 lbs - Advantage Mitch
Arms: Mitch: 34.125 in; Williams: 33.625 in - Advantage Mitch
Hands: Mitch: 10.25 in; Williams: 10.125 in - Advantage Mitch
Vertical Jump: Mitch: 25.5 in; Williams: 28 in - Advantage Williams
Broad Jump: Mitch: 102 in; Williams: 100 in - Advantage Mitch
Bench Press: Mitch: 28; Williams: 23 – Huge Advantage Mitch
40 yd dash: Mitch: not available; Williams: 5.12s - Advantage Williams?
3-cone drill: Mitch: 7.72s; Williams: 8.01s - Advantage Mitch
20 yd shuttle: Mitch: 4.50; Williams: 4.79s - Advantage Mitch
NFL Grade: Mitch 5.33; Williams: 6.23
All American: Mitch x3; Williams x2
All Conference: Mitch x4; Williams x3

Re: TNET: Cowboys added incentive to UDFA signing for Mitch Hyatt

Exactly my point. Hyatt actually has better measurables and a better college career. So something was on tape that the teams didn't like. I feel like as a 4 year starter he had so much film that teams were nitpicking at stuff that wasn't really there.

At some point the measureables and all that has to go out the window and you have to look at his tape and say "can the kid play?" and the answer is yes. Hunter Renfrow had almost nothing going for him athletically compared to some of the other big physical freak receivers that got drafted before him and after him, but at the end of the day the guy can just play football. I think Mitch is in the same boat. I think he will have a really solid career because at the very least he's a very technically sound offensive lineman who has proven he can take on some of the best players and he could be a very serviceable backup/6th lineman or he could go to a team that can use him and he could start for 10+ years.

Re: TNET: Cowboys added incentive to UDFA signing for Mitch Hyatt

May 5, 2019, 6:27 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Cowboys added incentive to UDFA signing for Mitch Hyatt ]

Mitch has the frame, which will permit him to add tremendous strength. I commented several weeks ago that Mitch was apparently perceived as lacking the physical strength to match his size. I noted recently that Mitch is now working with a trainer to increase his physical strength, primarily through lifting weights. He needs to be benching over 400 pounds, and squatting huge numbers, probably close to 400 lbs or more. I think he will do it, and project that he will have a great NFL career. His technique is very good.

He will fit in perfectly with Dallas

May 2, 2019, 4:55 AM

The Cowboys have one of the best offensive lines in pro football, so he’ll learn from some of the best. They also run a ton of zone blocking schemes which should help Mitch greatly in the run game.

They paid the extra money because they know they got a steal of a deal. I hope Mitch is pro bowl offensive Lineman with a long hall of fame career.

Mitch should have been the blind side pick of so many teams. I was flabbergasted he was not picked. I see way more Quarterbacks get leveled from the blind side. Why his kind of protection would be overlooked, I have no clue.

Still 10 years pay for most so.....best to you Mitch.

When Mitch finishes working with this trainer he is training with, he will be an absolute beast. I predict that he will have a storied career in the NFL.
