My one cent...

Because I'm not smart enough to have 2. Would we rather have a guy come out and bad mouth his guys to a bunch of people (media) who have no bearing on the outcome of games. Does he really owe the people who put money into the program and explanation, when that is done on your own free will? I mean are you really going to stop supporting Clemson? Is your love for the program that shallow? Just because Dabo isn't bashing them to the public/media, does not mean he is not chewing their ### behind closed doors. i would actually lose respect for him if he came out and said "our coordinators are not getting it done, they suck, DJ sucks, secondary sucks, ets." Would that really be who we wanted leading our team? Someone who uses everyone else as a scapegoat? There is a reason he held onto Venables for so long, he supported him in the public eye. We as fans have no idea how he is handling this. A coaches job is more than just Saturday, in fact that is only a small portion, the most important part, but small portion none the less of what they do in a week. Trust the guy who has gotten us to a point where we can complain about a 10 win season. I think he knows what he is doing.

Dabo usually calls out the defense, throws them under the bus. Don’t forget the WRs had 3 drops.

Things Dabo did say

"He's not the reason we lost the game (to South Carolina). He can't catch it. Again, he doesn't play safety. He doesn't return kicks. He's got his share of things he can do better but he will definitely start the game."
He called out the WRs, Mukuba, and the kicker returners. He didn't come close to calling out DJ.

No one expects our coaches to badmouth players

but there seems to be an inability by our coaches to acknowledge that DJ didn't play a good game on Saturday.
Rather than saying that DJ didn't play his best game, or missed some throws, the emphasis seems to be on DJ not being given enough protection by the line and receivers dropping passes.
This isn't the first time it's happened.
I'm all for understanding each player's psyche and knowing who thrives on public criticism and who would be damaged by it. I'm assuming DJ is in the latter group, although we don't know that. But for a coach who publicly called out Lyn-J Dixon last year on numerous occasions, and told the media that he needs to grow up, Dabo has been alarmingly dishonest about DJ.
