My memory must be failing me....

I thought when they announced the softball program....
We don't have the room for a stadium Who cares about softball? It's going to take us years to be relevant We won't be able to recruit against other schools that have a team already Softball won't bring in enough revenue
Am I missing something?
These ladies have worked hard to get to this point. CONGRATULATIONS on a Top 10 Seed!!! Keep it up and GOOD LUCK!!! Go Tigresses!!!

This program certainly got off the ground in a big hurry.

Whether by design, or just as a byproduct of the players personalities, it seems that the goal is to enjoy the Heyall out of the college experience at Clemson, first and foremost, and, win a lot of games along the way.
The baseball team could certainly learn some things from these softball Tigers!

As a father of daughters, I’d been waiting for this program

for years…as were many others. It is so refreshing that so many that weren’t familiar with the game have come to embrace the game.
Go Tigers!

As a girldad I am right there with you. It was both long overdue as well as surprisingly well supported.

couldn’t agree more. Excellent addition to Clemson. Amazing start to an awesome program with great coaches and players. It should be easy to stay relevant with recruiting starting out as a top 15 national program, and a top 5 ACC program.

What you missed is the fact that female athletes consider it disrespectful to be called ladies which is a term of social standing from jolly old England. Instead of ladies substitute the term athletes or players as you would if discussing football or baseball

My take and understanding is different. I remember some concerns regarding space, but never any doubt about how successful ladies softball would be. There’s enough participation, excitement, and talent in our state alone, to field a tournament caliber team.

…And Valerie Cagle and a few others deserve a plaque for establishing the program right out of the gate. Their success pays future dividends in recruiting due name recognition, success, etc.

You very we’ll may be misremembering. South Carolina , Georgia, and North Carolina are solid states in terms of girls it’ produces for D-1 softball which is a definite advantage if your starting a program. Combine great year round weather and nice facilities, not sure why it wouldn’t succeed. It is unique how quickly it happened
I would say the shocking part is how transfixed the fans have become with girl sports. Between Clemson softball and South Carolina womens basketball, its shocking the way many fans in this state have replaced their interest in Mens Basketball and Baseball for something else. There’s more post on here about softball than there is baseball and some times football. It’s interesting and definitely not something you would have seen 20 or 30 years ago
