ESPN take on transfer QB and Clemson

ESPN recruiting analyst Tom Luginbill went through some possible destinations for ESPN No. 1-rated 2024 QB Julian Sayin after his departure from Alabama recently, and Luginbill has a special category for Clemson in the mix:
Biggest need and ideal fit, but won't happen: Clemson Tigers
Clemson needs quarterback talent and depth quickly. The likes of Hunter Helms and Paul Tyson in the QB room last year weren't good enough. The Tigers signed highly regarded prospect Christopher Vizzina in the 2023 class, but he didn't climb the depth chart. Incumbent starter Cade Klubnik will be moving on soon, and Clemson offensive coordinator Garrett Riley runs a similar scheme to his brother at USC. This would be a great opportunity for both sides if Clemson wants to get back to being a College Football Playoff contender every year.

I love Dabo. I am SO glad he’s still our coach. I truly admire - and respect - his tremendous loyalty to his ( our ) ‘guys’.
But I damb sure would like to see our QB play back at the level we enjoyed with Deshaun and Trevor. Could Sayin be that guy? Who knows?
What I do know - okay, it is my opinion - but Cade’s development, or my perceived lack thereof, this past season REALLY makes me wonder: “what if? ….”
GO TIGERS!!!

Deshaun and Trevor might be pushing it, but understand and appreciate your frustration. We need winning qb play on a high level.

It wasn’t just Deshaun and Trevor who made them winners . Would be nice for Cade to have Higgins Mike Williams hunter Renfro Amari Rodger’s Dion Cain and leggett to throw to. And there are others who played in the NFL but didn’t latch on. It’s looking like Trevor may be a bust since his best games were as a freshman and his pro stats after 57 games are worse than Daniel jones (yikes). Deshaun ruined his career with bad decisions so who know what’s next for him. Give Cade a break let’s see him this year with some supposed top talent coming in.

We have TJ Moore, Bryant Wesco, and TE Christian Betancur in the 2024 class.

Cool name. Every time you throw a touchdown pass just shrug your shoulders and say "Just Sayin!"

I agree, he and Air Noland definitely can lead the All-Name Team where "He Hate Me" is in the HOF

You'd think Tom Luginbill would know that the systems Lincoln and Garrett run are not similar.

They're not even remotely similar. Lincoln is a true air raid. Garrett runs a ton of counter gap and zone read and traps.

6 degrees of separation relationship to Alabama, you've played for Clemson before, OR you're transferring from some imaginary Daniel High School University Clemson's not interested in you as a portal player.

Don’t understand how CV can be judged at this time. He was redshirted because of his age and didn’t have any opportunity to “climb the depth chart”. I certainly haven’t given up on him yet.

i like his throwing mechanic and spiral more than Cades
his arm strength didn't look on par yet. and his ball didn't drop like Cades.
i think the arm strength is there next year. can't wait to see him throw at the spring game

It would be a great get, and It wouldn't surprise me if Dabo and Co. Have reached out as due diligence if nothing else.
Like Dabo has said in the past, it has to be a "fit". Is this #1 qb going to be ok with coming in behind 2 highly recruited guys and another guy coming in next year (Whom Dabo and Riley have been extremely committed to for over a year). Cade is a pretty cemented starter. If Sayin wants to come in and try to push him I'm all for it. Competition makes everyone better. I would be extremely surprised if that is the case.
It would definitely be a GIGANTIC move for Dabo and Clemson and change the media narrative (and fan narrative) that he is anti Portal. This would definitely be a "needle" mover as they say. And in this environment, moving the needle and making big waves/splashes seems to be very important.
