They are US DOE/DARPA drones creates to surveil urban areas and cities for gamma rays emitted by a possible nuke or dirty bomb. If they suspect a dirty bomb, it would be a conventional explosive with uranium or nuclear material enclosed and would emit some signals. Likewise, some nukes may emit gamma rays that would be detected as well.

This whole drone thing is a combination of truths.
1. Our government is indeed experimenting with and developing drones/craft for military/surveilance purposes, which accounts for some of these recent sightings. The government will not, at this point, talk about it (maybe that's the best approach for now?) and is covering it up.
2. Ordinary people are getting caught up in it, and are indeed misidentifying a variety of legal, ordinary craft as UFOs, drones, or "suspicious".
3. Real nutjobs are seizing the moment and piling on like crazy (no pun intended) and purposely spreading BS.
In many cases, it's almost impossible for sane citizens to sort out exactly which it is, and I'm not sure it matters.

drones, or even just DJI (Chinese) from selling drones - funny thing is the DJI software prohibits you from flying where no fly zones are enforced.

Also, people act like these drones have unlimited range. The foreign adversary would probably need some sort of naval vessel to be launching them from right off of our shores or launching from US land. Ridiculous. We know they aren't aliens. That pretty much leaves a regular excuse or two from domestic reasons. US military or civilians.

actively trying to protect America. It disturbs me that they might be thinking such an attack is possible.
I wouldn't write this off as a conspiracy theory just yet. The stage is set being that people all across the globe can get into America without papers by going through Mexico and that Iran just had their most super secret nuclear facility blown up by Israel's air strikes.
