As my next door neighbor said, "Oh, Covid is very real. I thought I was going to die. I got the shot as soon as the doc said that I could." He and his wife both survived after 3-month deadly infections and had to wait 6 weeks to get the shot.
Of course, the death rate vs infections is low, but many that survive live a disabled life afterwards.
Xavier Thomas had a very long recovery. Ditto, Reggie Foster.
Hey, it's your right to die. Go ahead on, if you feel the need. Know that when you pass it on you may kill others -- perhaps in your family. You go.

some of us have lost family and friends to this virus, so when you go spouting off at the mouth it comes across as insulting and disrespectful. You have no idea what you are talking about, and need to just stop making a fool out of yourself.

to kill these individuals much too often since their organs are weakened & susceptible to the virus entering them thru the blood stream.
Our country’s citizens (and non-citizens) are fat, lazy, spoiled, need to exercise, etc.
Thus, nature does its normal thing and culls out the unfit during crises (storms, diseases, etc).
Sounds cruel but it’s the way of nature!

But your odds are much less than if you weren’t wearing a seatbelt.
I don’t understand why for some people, if the vaccine doesn’t prevent 100% of cases it isn’t any good.
Vaccinated people have been shown to get COVID at a lower rate, die from COVID at a lower rate, and spread COVID at a lower rate than those who aren’t vaccinated.

Look at the nfl man. Most of these guys are vaccinated yet covid positives are going around like hot cakes. It's pretty obvious that the vaccine doesn't prevent spread very well. I'm not saying it doesn't help ur immune system fight it, of course it does that.

If the positive rules force anyone to not play even if they are asymptomatic and feel fine to play, then that is the real problem. Let each decide to play or coach as they see fit. Let fans choose to go to see the games or not. CHOICE!

I know it’s pointless to expect people who uncritically parrot such deliberately ignorant talking points to educate themselves at this stage of the pandemic, but I’ll post this anyway.

Re: Lots of people in Florida are still dying from COVID.

The sentence in the article is poorly worded. The 62K number is total number of COVID deaths in Florida since COVID began. The number was UP due to 122 deaths for the week referenced. It is *not* the case that 62 thousand people in Florida died of COVID between Dec. 17 to Dec. 23, despite the wording in that article.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/usa/florida/ Florida COVID-19 Coronavirus update by county with statistics and graphs: total and new cases, deaths per day, current active cases, recoveries, historical data, trends, projections, and timeline.
The fact that someone would believe that 62K people died in Florida in one week is telling. Of course, some people believed Joe Biden when he said that 200 million people have died.
We've learned that (according to Gallup and NYT) "[T]he particular story with Covid is also more complicated — because conservatives aren’t the only ones misinterpreting scientific evidence in systematic ways. Americans on the left half of the political spectrum are doing it, too... Republicans tend to underestimate Covid risks — and Democrats tend to exaggerate them."
"When asked how often Covid patients had to be hospitalized, a very large share of Democratic voters said that at least 20 percent did. The actual hospitalization rate is between 1 percent and 5 percent.
"In fact, 41% of Democrats replied that at least 50% of unvaccinated people have been hospitalized due to COVID-19.
[That's 10-50x more "deadly" in their minds than reality...22% of Republicans have the same terrified thoughts.]
"By contrast, Democrats were more likely to estimate hospitalization risk for the vaccinated population correctly: 42% of Democrats compared with 33% of Republicans correctly reported that less than one percent of vaccinated people have been hospitalized.

According to the official State of Florida stats only 24 people died from COVID on the Dec 16-23 dates you quoted. The 62000 is the total deaths from COVID during the entire pandemic. The WFLA web site must be fake news or is seriously deficient in math and statistics skills.

Even though the actual number of COVID deaths last week wasn’t nearly as many as the article stated, it was still not insignificant.
The poster I responded to said that no one is dying from COVID, and that is incorrect.

It effects people differently. Out of the 5 in my house that got it, 3 were fine, two had to go the hospital. The 2 of use that were hospitalized, both came home on oxygen. My mother in law was on it for about 2 weeks, I was on oxygen for 6 weeks after I got out the hospital and have some damage in my lungs. I was as close to death as I have ever been in my life from the delta variant. The doctor has told me that hopefully within 6 months to a year my lungs might heal.

I agree the political part is idiotic. I have a friend that refuses to get vaccinated because “no one is going to tell her what to do”. I’ve never questioned the science before regarding vaccines I’ve received all my life and I’m not going to start now at 57 years old. I’m not afraid of a vaccine and have had 3 shots already. I’ve made it this far with no fear however, I am afraid of passing the virus on to others who may not be able to fight it off for whatever reason. If I was young or had young kids I would do more research 1st but I don’t understand what older people are afraid of.
