My 2 cents on the CFP top 4

Dec 3, 2023, 11:13 AM

First of all, Michigan & Washington are in - no doubt.

Then there's a group vying for spots 3 & 4: Alabama, Texas, Florida State, Oregon, Georgia

Using conference championship as the most valuable measuring stick, the nod goes to Bama & Texas (sorry Bret, but as of right now, FSU is the weakest of the teams listed above).

Going by the eye test (I watched all of the games this weekend) I would put Oregon & Georgia in ahead of Texas. Texas may be great but they had the weakest opponent of the three and so I view their performance with slightly more skepticism. In particular, I was impressed with the way Oregon flew around the field on offense and defense.

I know that everyone is going to scream about undefeated ACC champs, but I would have to rate the current team on the field as 7th best team.

If you are trolling, well done.

Otherwise, this may be the most illogical take I've seen today.

I’m trying to remember who FSU lost to.

Help me out here.

FSU lost to the CFP committee - as I predicted.

Oregon is completely out of the discussion

So Oregon had 2 shots at their rivals and lost twice, but that beats out undefeated? Got it. So Oregon's losses and FSU's wins don't matter equally?

parsdog,

I specifically said by using the eye test. I thought they looked very strong against Washington.

That's some creative thinking, right there. Crazy as a loon, but creative,

Then why not let Vegas pick the teams. They know far more than you or me or any committee. If performance on the field and conference championships aren't relevant just let Vegas pick them.

Sorry Bret - the four best teams right now !

Bama, and UGA failed the "eye test" the week prior

Dec 3, 2023, 11:33 AM

remembering Auburn last by 21 point to New Mexico State the week prior to that...and GT, who played UGA to within a touchdown lost to Bowling Green earlier in the year.

Love

Apparently the CFP committee favored conference champions - and out of the five conference champions, they chose the strongest four.
