Motivational slogans.

I think they are overrated. I subscribe more the the Mike Tyson philosophy, "Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the face." I'm not sure how much having a good slogan works when the first bullet is fired.

But, with that said, I know coaches like to have slogans for the year. These are the slogans that are printed on tee-shirts worn under jerseys.

Well, here are two I came up with. Probably too long for a tee-shirt, but they could at least be posted on the locker room wall.

Every pratice; every day.
Every game; every play.

Or, if that doesn't grab you how about:

Just do your job!
Do just your job!
Do your job justly!

(Now you can see why I didn't make a career of being a motivational speaker.)

Well at least you put some thought into like “a penny for your thoughts”. I give you an A for effort!

Nicely done. Many slogans in my Army days, like, “first to fire”. My missile would fly a long way.
Go tigers!

Some can be helpful, eg, "Do unto others before they do unto you."

.... was when I was coaching track at a local high school. (Volunteer assistant position. But, the second year I coached we won the state championship.)

While the kids were stretching before practice (like pre-game stretches in football) I would walk up and down the lines yelling, "It's a great day to get fast!" I would yell is during practice too, especially when I sensed they were losing their focus.

On the day of our first meet, some of the kids came up to me and said, "Coach, it's a great day to get fast." I would reply, "No. It's a great day to BE fast."

For two years we had a lot of fun with it. After both seasons at the awards banquet they gave me a photo of the team, signed by every member, and the title was, "It's a great day to get fast!"
