Tariffs are a good way to hit the brakes on the housing market

“The new tariffs could increase builder costs anywhere from $7,500 to $10,000 per home, said Rob Dietz, chief economist at the National Association of Home Builders, citing estimates from U.S. homebuilders. Last year the NAHB estimated that every $1,000 increase in the median price of a new home prices out roughly 106,000 potential buyers.”

Nice link, but this link doesn't show any heavy Canadian tariffs.

Once again ....... weak on your part.

What the overall impact is? I don’t know. But the site you provided lists US tariffs on Canada if you switch the country listings.

So it’s a manner of degree, which is certainly up for discussion.

Our President is calling their leader a governor. His cabinet is calling him a governor. This level of disrespect (and make no mistake, that is not an insult to Trudeau. It’s an insult to Canada. It’s calling their prime minister a governor in a U.S. state.) of a close ally is so pathetic I can’t believe we continue to have these discussions.

25% tariffs destroys businesses on both sides of the border.

Best lumber I EVER used in 30+ years was stamped 'AUSTRIA'... 2x8x12'SPF.

Straightest lumber with no discernible crown or bow I've EVER encountered as a bundled lot.

The shame of it... All 60 were for roof rafters. Sure made it easy cutting in that roof, though.

The lumber from the U.S. is more expensive because of regulations and higher corporate taxes.

Isn't the real reason of the tariffs being placed on the "world" by the U.S. is because corporations left the U S. killing jobs and production? And wasn't the reason the corporations left the U.S. due to burdensome regulations and higher corporate taxes?

I say the government needs to DOGE the regulations by departments that cost corporations money without providing value and approve the corporate tax cuts. Get the American worker into skill positions and then you bleeding hearts will see a reason to allow migrants to "legally" enter the country with a purpose to contribute rather than leech off our taxes $s.

It's amazing how all these things are all intertwined. It's not checkers.

What gives you the idea I'm a bleeding heart...or even anything close to a liberal? That's funny.

You think US lumber is more expensive that Canadian lumber because of less regulations and a lower corp tax rate? Than Canada? What am I missing here?

European countries lend Ukraine money with interest and that's totally fine. Trump asks what are we getting out of the deal when we give them hundreds of billions and sh**libs lose their mind.

You can't reason with them. The best thing to do is just point and laugh.
