More Tidbits

Jan 2, 2017, 10:22 PM

Planning on having my scouting report up tomorrow/wednesday timeframe, but I figured I'd post a couple more tidbits that you likely won't hear mentioned in the national media:

1) Bama is 56/63 on red zone scoring chances (89%) but only 39 of those 63 chances have been TDs. That is 62%, so that just slightly better than 1 TD ever 2 red zone possessions. If you hear the way the media talks about them, you'd think they'd be in the 85%+ range, but they are not.

2) What does the typical Bama offense look like on paper from a stats POV? 70 plays/game (43 rushes, 27 passes). Of those 70 plays, 9 of them on average are for negative yardage (see my previous post, they are 108th in the nation in TFLs given up at just over 7 per game, and 40th in the country in sacks allowed (25 on the season).

3) Who is the weakness in the secondary? #26 Humphrey. In a few games this year (especially the Ole Miss game), Ole Miss was successful time and time again in the passing game by isolating him one on one and throwing it to a 6'3 225lb WR (sound like anyone on our team? hehehe).

-Bama's defensive line is legit (22 and 56 are flat out men on the field) but the secondary is honestly not all you hear it being cracked up to be. Swag torched them when he had time to throw, and that game still had Eddie at safety (#4) before he went down with an injury for the year. Fitzpatrick has gone back and forth playing safety, and their safety play has had mixed results since. The only similar type of offense that Bama has played to us is Ole Miss, and we know how bad Ole Miss ended up, and they scored 43 points, scored a defensive touchdown, and torched that secondary more than they were stopped.

Again, don't buy the hype, don't let the media, and don't let their bandwagon fan base get to you. You're gonna be surprised by my prediction, and I've got a ton of info to backup each statement.

Stay confident, stay tuned.

I like the stats and TU! I think we win, but we were also better team last year.

Saban was masterful in that onside call and it swung the game. I think our players and staff come in ready this year.
Go Tigers!!
