More info on new coaches

Jan 2, 2022, 1:30 PM

This was the 29th post on my earlier thread, so knew most would never see it:

Streeter had experience (OC at Liberty and Richmond). Then he came in and learned from the Clemson staff. His college days included Richrod as coordinator. He had Morris film to study when he first came to Clemson as a coach (it was the first year after Morris).

This was Dabo hiring his new coordinator because of all the talk about Scott and Elliot going elsewhere. That is why he did not need time to pick TE's replacement, he already had him.

Wes did not have coordinator experience, but even Brent leaned on him for analysis. He had been offered jobs in the NFL and college for several years. He did not leave, because he knew he was Dabo's pick for DC when Brent left...

Dabo knows. He knew when these two hires were made years ago, that he had his new coordinators when they were needed. I am sure the only surprise he had was doing them in the same year.

You are exactly right and I’m sure Dabo is planning ahead again.

No doubt.

Dabo knows, in a couple years, all the people who looked at a photo of Wes and laughed at him….
Will be lining up to hire him.
Hopefully Wes stays loyal.

Wes has been loyal to Dabo for years waiting for this. I would not expect that to change but like BV there will probably be an opportunity he cant turn down in the future

Wes grew up in Alabama, so … when Momma calls.

Agree, but Dabo is already planning on his replacement, and will hire him (if not already there) before Wes leaves...so that he will be able to promote from within!

I've probably missed it during the holidays and all, but have we heard the plan for the new O-Line coach?

Think internal, he’s already here.

Thomas Austin will be the OL Coach. Coached OL at Georgia State for 2019 and 2020 seasons under Shawn Elliott. Dabo hired him as an offensive analyst for 2021 knowing this season would be the farwell/transition year with Caldwell.
