More big impacts from the transfers

I don't want to get too ahead of ourselves, but I'm A LOT more optimistic about the team next season once Blossomgame/Holmes/Djitte depart.
We will need Skara, Spencer, and Simms to log quality minutes but Mitchell/DeVoe/Reed/Thomas should be a nice core.

Through transfer, BB is getting the type of players we could

... never seem to recruit out of high school for whatever reason.
Having a Top-50 HS player like Elijah Thomas eligible at Clemson for 3.5 years is a tremendous help.
And the other transfers are certainly blending in very well.
Got to hand it to BB. With his back to the wall, he seems to have finally found the talent and depth he's needed to compete.
Still far from a great team, but plenty good enough to make some noise in the ACC and finally get that elusive NCAA bid.

we beat them in '97 when they were ranked 6th...I'm guessing that was at Clemson.
Prior to that, the last time they were ranked when we played them was '71

In 1971, USC was in the ACC so it would have been a conference win. That was their last year in the ACC and they won the tourney that year and got the only bid to the big dance from the ACC (back then, only conference tournament champs got bids).

Our guys played hard last night and it paid off. The decision to attack the paint this season has made this a fun Tiger team to watch. BONUS: I don't have to look at those long lost Gamecock car flags on the way to work this morning! Thanks Tigers!

Outstanding! Their slide into further obscurity continues, just as it should. Tigers, on the other hand, continue to kick --- and take names.

After that one. Also, Eli Thomas is the missing piece Clemson basketball has needed for over a decade. He is going to be tremendous for us. Going to be an exciting year! (Don't forget gamecocks without their best player right now - come selection time that will be huge because they will be even better when he rejoins the team)

Great win! We talk about our balanced scoring, but playing time was pretty balanced over 8 players with only JB logging in over 30 minutes. Thomas did a great job filling in with the big man in foul, which sc really wanted to get Djitte in foul trouble. Great clutch free throws by Reed and Avry.

If you aren't already on the way to Arizona by this time, come out next Wednesday for the UNC-Wilmington game. It looks to be a competitive match-up, & we'll need whatever home-court advantage we can generate.
I'm really encouraged by our team's play through the non-conference part of our schedule. That's what kept us out of the post-season last year. The ACC is always a grind, but this year I really like our team's chances to make the NCAA Tournament & go on a deep run.

"Clemson’s win was the program’s first in history on a top-25 non-conference opponent’s home floor." So David said in his notes. I find this absolutely astounding. I know the Tiger BB team has not been great, but give me a break. First time? Well, moving forward, let's hope it doesn't take as long to get the second. Goooo Tigers!
