WOW!!! I am blown away at the tweet I just got

I just got a tweet from someone named Dieter Kertenbach. I believe he is a columnist or something. He sent me a tweet telling me that me tweeting with recruits is an NCAA violation. How is that? And if it is please don't give me a hard time. I had no idea and would never do anything to hurt the team I have pulled for my entire life. I don't work at or for Clemson. How could me sending a tweet to a recruit saying "we would love to have you at Clemson, good luck to you no matter what you choose" be a violation?
Someone? I see fans do it all the time. Matter of fact I see the recruits reach out to the fans asking for followers and "give me some love". Is it a little childish to ask for love like they are just seeking attention? Maybe. Is it childish of me at 37 to tell a 17-18 year old football player that the team I pull for would love to have him? I didn't think so. Maybe I should rethink that.

BUT for them to enforce tweeting contact would make a HUGE logjam of complaints for very little effect on recruiting.

violation and there are a ton of fools doing it at every school. However, if you are reported to Clemson or it gets forwarded to Clemson from the NCAA then you run the risk of getting banned from CU for x amount a time. Pretty dumb to risk in my opinion.
They have discussed relaxing this rule and catching up with the times regarding social media-- but fairly certain nothing has passed.

Do some social engineering and find out what team he supports. Fans seem to not mind talking to our recruits.

The NCAA would laugh at him for trying to make something out of nothing.
Then tell him to go f himself.

I wonder if Dieter tweeted the 100s of others
Jan 10, 2013, 12:01 PM

...who do the same? I see interactions between fans/boosters/alumni, etc. of all schools and recruits on my Twitter feed all of the time. My guess is that he is either a coot or a fan of another school. I am sure we will hear if the NCAA starts restricting the social media.
If you are upset, delete any tweets in question.

If not, then I would suspect that saying the same thing on twitter would also be a violation. Good luck to the NCAA for trying to enforce it.
We won't get into the logic or lack of logic of a fan tweeting a player 20 years his junior.

What don't I understand? The fact that you can obtain insider information from folks like Buster Olney, Roy Philpot, Peter Gammons, or Adam Schefter? Yea I know what twitter is, but when you are an 37 year old adult tweeting a 17 year old kid about how you'd love to see him in Clemson? Yea, kind of weird. Do some d@mn work!

Someone responded to him and told him basically that he was an idiot and that he needed to do his homework.
He responded that it is a violation and the NCAA is adding them as riders to all minor violations.
Any why would I tweet a 17 year old kid? Why do any of us spend days not being able to get our mind off of a game lost by a team full of 18-22 year old kids? I never meant any harm. I am a married man with a beautiful wife and 2 beautiful daughters. If I am guilty of anything it is just being a little too passionate about Clemson football. Guilty as charged.
I didn't invite the guys over for a slumber party to watch "Remember the Titans" and "The Program" in our boxers.

watch the process and not try to be part of it.
There's probably many who will disagree with me but there are many fans who are too consumed with the recruiting process. 16-18 year olds are very young. Consider the maturity level at 37 vs 18. You've got twice as much life experience.
Let the coaches do their job and you cheer on Saturdays, and armchair QB the rest of the week on T-net.
