Remember seeing him on the field after the national championship. Kid looks like he has good size. Anybody think he’ll be a contributor this year? He was an excellent recruiter for us in high school.

What makes you say that?

He is roughly the size of Kendall Joseph. Venables has no problem with faster LB's. In today's game your LB's have to be able to run and cover. See Tre Lamar.
The Buchannon LB for Arizona was one of the 1st kinda hybrid LB types who are more safety than anything.

6'0 225 is not as small as 5'11 220(Kendall).

I played high school football for his grandfather, David Jones. Played one season of high school football with his dad, Mike Jones SR. I spoke with Mike senior last fall at a high school game.

I know where Mike Jones JR comes from football lineage-wise. His grandfather was a hard man to play for. He expected nothing less than success and whatever amount of effort that took. He would continually make you demonstrate to yourself that the limit wasn’t in your arms or legs, but only in your mind. ......That you could do anything with enough resolve and determination.

Mike senior was a consensus All-American in high school, at N.C. State, then a second round selection of the Cardinals. He spent about 10 years in the league playing for the Patriots, Rams and Titans as well.

I know how hard he was pushed by his dad, I promise you Mike junior is driven as well.

I think M.Jones will need to play in an urgent way this year. I just do not believe that Chad S. will be able to cover backs and tight ends in open space. I am very concerned about him playing against Texas A&M, because J. Fisher has a very good offensive mind and he will expose any weakness.

LB is a position of strength this year. It will continue to be under BV.
