Mike Farrell on coot recruiting:
Feb 2, 2016, 1:54 PM
|
|
“That was a horrible football team at South Carolina that we saw this year. Recruiting’s been down for the last three years,” Farrell said. “The roster is not loaded with talent whatsoever, and they are probably sixth or seventh choice in the southeast right now, if that.”

GT might be pushing it though. You're right NCSU is close, but still behind the coots

They will be considered seventh in the east if they lose their opening game to Vandy, Muscrap is starting on a "high" note based upon their stupid fan comments.
Go Tigers!

the article in the P&C. I decided that SEC schools A&M, LSU, Arkansas, and Mizzou are NOT part of the southeast. I'm sure Louisiana is debatable, but I consider the southeast to end at Mississippi and Tennessee.
I still think there are 8 that aren't even questionable.
Clemson Georgia Florida FSU Tenn Alabama Auburn Ole Miss
Then you have UNC and Miami which are currently recruiting quite a bit better than SC. Miss St is another school that's pretty much on par with SC at the moment.

Sixth or seventh choice in the southeast right now ?!?!?!
Feb 2, 2016, 2:12 PM
|

talk about wishful thinking.
Tennessee, UNC, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, and Clemson, just to name a few, are all better programs than $CU right now.

You guys sure spend a lot of time crapping on a program so low on the totem pole.

The better question is how did they rise so quick?

They have stunk for the majority of their existence. That is not baffling. The irregularity was the 5 years of success they managed to string together.

Fell so fast because they weren't built on a solid foundation. Much like the rest of their university, it is more about today than anything. You can see it throughout their system - athletics, academics, even the facilities. No consistency, little tradition and all about the instant "flash".
Some examples:
Football Coaching Hires - Wanted the name, not a program builder. They got what they paid for in Holtz and Spurrier. Spurrier had no intentions of leaving the program better than he found it as the next guy would have improved on it an overshadowed his giant ego.
Baseball Program - Already losing luster
Baseball Stadium - Nice but located in a bad area. So close to the river, but no access or view. Shortcuts taken and they've had to deal with stuctural issues, settling and other things since construction.
Colonial Center - Big square footage but cheaply constructed and more about size than quality. Doesn't have a good feel and is generally much less than capacity.
There are too many other examples to list. Living in the area I see it often.
