"In the Big Ten’s 13-page letter they sent to Michigan that gives step-by-step insight into the conference’s decision-making, a prominent group was mentioned, leading to many rumors.

The technology-driven sports wagering monitoring company, U.S. Integrity, was cited in the Big Ten’s 13-page letter at the bottom of page 3 (pictured below).

This is significant to the rumor because many believe that not only could Connor Stalions have been operating a sizeable sign-stealing network, but that specific coaches may have been taking advantage of it as well by placing bets and fixing the point totals of games.

U.S. Integrity monitors unusual betting activity and is used by all five major power conferences.

U.S. Integrity informed sportsbooks about the sign-stealing situation when it came to light a few weeks ago.

Things will only get crazier if a connection is eventually found between sign stealing and betting within the Michigan program.

The rumor gets more profound with the belief that when former Michigan QB Coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator Matt Weiss had his computer taken for research, the FBI found gambling cookies on it.

These rumors have gained little to no traction in the national media, and Michigan fans seem unmoved by it, but at the very least, it is a rumor with possibilities."

I never liked Ohio State, but if Michigan is cheating and OSU is not, then I'm for them.

You failed to mention, South Carolina could be guilty with the tenn game and Clemson win last year. Not Beamers first time to cheat.

Good add...guessing you read the article where it was broken down that Michigan was also using their data to manipulate who they might be seeing in the CFP. Stallions is from TN. USuC was awful last year and had just lost to UF like 36-9...then they play two CFP potential teams (UM looking at as potential opponents if they win out) in Tenn and Clemson and score/outscore those two teams like 91-36 or something - "out of the blue". TCU gets wind of the sign stealing and changes their signals - upset. Also TCU posted a pic of Stallions on the other sideline with a sheet with their signals - lucky for them they'd changed them all.

Harbaugh clearly ordered the code red, bet it'll be hard to pin any direct communication or actionables on him. That said, guarantee with his record against OSU and overall, he felt the pressure and decided to cut corners. Shady. I hope they get a sever penalty, and if it extends beyond them (USuC, etc), they too get hammered for cheating.

This is really bad if true. I haven't been following this story. These rumors are captivating to me. I might have to start paying attention.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

The interesting thing is that the benefit they've received appears to be ongoing.

Maybe they are not in the national championship hunt this year without the benefit of the cheating that they continue to have.

That's without considering they are not in the playoffs last year without it.

Maybe they would not have beaten Ohio State the last two years after losing several years in a row.

The NCAA's handling of potential violations, especially in high-profile cases, has often raised concerns about their consistency and fairness, contributing to perceptions of corruption. In instances where allegations involve significant infractions like sign stealing and potential betting connections, the penalties vary but usually encompass a range of sanctions.

According to NCAA rules, penalties for such violations could include scholarship reductions, postseason bans, coaching suspensions, and fines. In extreme cases, a program might face probation or even a loss of institutional control status, impacting recruiting and overall program stability. However, the exact penalty is challenging to predict without a thorough investigation and evidence to substantiate the claims.

The inconsistency in NCAA penalties, along with the limited national media coverage of certain cases, fuels perceptions of favoritism or lack of transparency within the organization's decision-making process. This further underscores the need for greater accountability and clarity in enforcing rules uniformly across all member institutions.

In the hypothetical scenario where Michigan were unequivocally found guilty of all alleged infractions, including extensive sign stealing and direct involvement in betting connections, the severity of penalties could indeed escalate significantly.

The NCAA reserves the "death penalty" for extreme and repeated violations that seriously undermine the integrity of college athletics or display a blatant disregard for NCAA rules. Historically, it's been applied sparingly, effectively shutting down programs for a specific period.

While it's theoretically possible that such egregious violations could lead to a death penalty, it's crucial to note that the NCAA considers multiple factors, including the institution's history of compliance, level of cooperation, and the nature and scope of the violations, when determining sanctions.

In a scenario of widespread, confirmed infractions, Michigan could face a combination of severe penalties, potentially including a postseason ban, substantial scholarship reductions, extensive probation, coaching suspensions, and significant fines. The imposition of a death penalty would remain a remote possibility, reserved for only the most extreme and repetitive violations.

If Michigan were found guilty of all of this, Harbaugh would be gone, and they would get probation. I don’t believe Death Penalty is valid here because they don’t have any repeated behavior of disobedience.
