I hope that "live again" part means after a deserved break he does something professionally without the handcuffs of ESPN/ACC.

I'm a big fan of his. His radio program was great.
I thought the ACCN program with Wes was good, but he seemed rather negative and kind of hurt the vibe of the show. But I think that was probably more to do with limitation from the ACCN than anything else.

putting up with ESPN I would imagine. His comment each show about " the smart people in Bristol" I always took as a jab at them deciding what he could show content wise.

His Sirius XM show was not renewed a few years ago. He used to do this in conjunction with his ACC Network gig. I suppose his paycheck shrunk quite a bit after that. I would also imagine there is a decent chance Packer created some enemies at ESPN because he spoke his mind. I loved that about him.
Dude had a great career. Hate that we won't have one of our own in that position any more.

I enjoyed his ACCN show. His knowledge of all things ACC always impressed me.

Packer lived on Johnstone F5 with other members of the golf team back in the early 80s.

All you guys aren't old enough to retire..... wait until you reach the 80s in years. Hartins and I are on the way.

He was roommates with Larry Penley at the time. I consider him a friend, and wish him well.
He used to have a TN handle;not sure if he is still active here or not.

Selfishly hate to see him retire, he did a good job and proud of him as a Clemson grad. But happy for him and hope he enjoys a great retirement, best wished to him and family!

bored with retirement. I miss the old Primetime with the Packman radio show on WFNZ in Charlotte. So many characters on that show. It was good everyday. I don't think there has been another sports show that has even gotten close to rivaling it.

Best sports talk show I've ever listened to. Only sports talk show that made me laugh on a daily basis. Remember the whiner line? Especially on Monday's when the get some guy would leave messages all weekend and you could tell he got more drunk with each message he left.

That was a great radio show, an all time favorite for sure! Robin the Duke fan and the “get some guy” were regular callers to the show, always entertaining..

Prime time with Packman was the best sports talk show ever. I laughed every single day listening to that show, couldn’t wait for the ride home from work in traffic.
So many funny characters including QCB! They need to bring that show back!
