Sorry for starting a fresh thread but I feel like this rebuttal deserves more than being lost deep in a day old thread. This is primarly regarding assertions that we are in a better place now than last year and weren't projected in the tournament at this point in 2023.

You are being extremely precise: dates, games remaining, exact NET ranking. No reasonable person would believe you know this off the top of your head. Therefore it would be reasonable to believe that you looked this up before posting. Why would we think the statement about tournament projections wasn't equally precise?
"I assumed that with us being in the 60's, we weren't in the projections" - this doesn't hold up to much scrutiny. You were one of many who fervently believed we were robbed by the committee. On 2/2/23 we were 10-2 in the ACC and, I believe, tied for first. We would close the regular season 4-4 and go 1-1 in the ACC tourney. How could you possible have believed we would ever have gotten a bid to the tourney if you didn't believe it on 2/2/23. It makes no sense and you are lying to cover for your newer lies. We were safely in the tourney as of 2/2/23 (consensus 9 seed and appearing on 85 of 87 brackets) and were ranked in the AP top 25. Sources here:

And it is not deliberately misleading as he is being. Unlike him, I did not pull my assertion out of thin air.

Obviously this is a bit hyperbolic but it is also subjective. I believe my use of "essentially" and "true" give a lot of wiggle room here. But the essence of my argument is that a traditional point guard has not been a priority under Brownell. CM initially provided 4 examples to rebut my statement.
Dillon Hunter - He is considered a Point Guard. However he is sophomore average 14.8 minute with a 2.5 A/T ratio.
Del Jones - hes not even on campus
Dawes - he transferred after averaging a 1.15 A/T ratio
Honor - transferred in and out. Averaged a 2.3 A/T ratio
Perhaps my comment should have been put more artfully. Brad Brownell has consistently failed to recruit, develop, and retain point guards that can effectively direct an offense. Here's my proof.
A simple definition of the point guard role is to "facilitate scoring opportunities for their team." This has been abysmal under Brownell. Assists per game ranking by season under Brad:
142, 161, 294, 307, 293, 166, 225, 180, 260, 164, 141, 72, 68
Assisted shots are hit with a higher percentage from every location of the floor. Corner 3s are hit with nearly 20% more accuracy when assisted. If you think you're watching bad basketball under Brad Brownell it is because you are.

If we were to fire for performance we should have done so many years ago if not a few years ago. Yes, this is a hire/fire at will position, but I don’t see the administration firing after what they have deemed “acceptable performance” previously. Probably because people that donate $$ also accept it. We expect some sort of epiphany, but is it really gonna happen after all these years? And I’m not talking the last 14. More like the last 100. If we require more, we need to put it in writing. Current incentives allow too many rewards for mediocrity ( see NIT incrntive).
Afterall, he has the highest ACC winning % of any coach we have ever had. And did it without a true PG. WOW!
Put it in the contract……
Win more/ any games against ranked teams on the road.
Recruit a true PG.
Stop turning the ball over.
Quit letting PJ shoot threes.
Quit losing games after long breaks
Stop wearing purple jerseys.
Maybe set a certain win % on games as a measure of success.
Gonna be a great read!

Neff has never given Brownell an extension. I hope that, at worst, he will continue to run the clock on the current contract. If status quo is truly good enough he should have already gotten an extension since it is highly unusual to coach with only 2 years remaining on the contract. That is supposedly crippling to recruiting. Since that is actively being debunked by his incoming class there is no reason to think he can't coach with 1 year remaining just as well.

I still cant believe viztiz tried to fact check me by saying he used the word "essentially".
Sure, brownell essentially refuses to recruit true point guards if you forget that he brought in Rod hall, adonis filer, dillon hunter, del jones, shelton mitchell, nick honor, al amir dawes, avery holmes, and ty hudson.
The other fact check had to do with viztiz the clown diminishing our win at top 10 UNC was against an "average" unc team. To back that up he said their final ap ranking all time was like 11 or something. That wasnt close to true and his citation was stupid.
I bet he deleted this ridiculous posts lime he does all his other freezing cold takes.

You do realize this post is over a year old and that it was dug up solely because there is not enough complaining for their tastes, right? And, regardless of what has happened since, everything in it is true.
And no, I won’t be happy until the soon to be longest tenured, and currently first or second highest paid coach in the league wins a title. Sorry if that is an unreasonable goal. This exact same group of clowns uses Dabo’s salary as grounds that anything less national champion is a failure.

We can't be happy until we win a championship, right? Pathetic, but I like the actual goal. Funny, last year's goal line was just the elite eight(early season). At least it was til we made it there, and then was changed to the Final 4. Let's just win!
