Thinking BV's gameplan vs Lou will be similar to tOSU game

Lamar Jackson is basically the same type of athlete as Braxton Miller was, but Jackson seems to have developed into a slight better passer. You still have to make that guy beat you with his arm though.
The only problem with using the same strategy is that this Clem team isn't as athletic at DE or LB as that Orange Bowl Championship team. Miller couldn't really shake Beasley like he could most guys and Anthony and crew never really allowed him to get to the 2nd level of our defense. This year's team is more athletic at DT, but Ferrell, Wilkins, and Bryant if he comes back (although pretty good) are not Beasley level athletes at DE. Shuey and Boulware are about a wash, but Joseph can move like Stephone. It'll be really interesting to see what Venables comes up with to keep Jackson contained.

I doubt BV ever gives Jackson an easy edge to run to. Our DTs will cause enough havoc that our blitzes will get there if Jackson can't diagnose them fast enough. Best way to stop a fast QB is to get somebody on him as soon as he finishes his drop back.

Set the edges, unleash the DTs, and bring LBs on delayed blitzes. Rinse, repeat until said QB is nursing sore ribs.

Time for the overlooked strategy . . .

And that is, we need to employ a slower tempo when necessary. Slow down, take the wind out of their sails, hog the ball - be efficient, but keep them off the field.
AND, Louisville is exactly the type of game in which the Dabo-esque weird/bad/oddball clock management issues and field-goal foregoing "tactics" could get us into trouble.

Hard talking about L'ville right now, but I will...
Anyways, I am sure most will agree. There probably isn't an easy answer when defending Jackson. But 1st off, your secondary has to be sound. And players will have to make open field tackles, bottom line. I don't see us "shutting them down"; And we're probably going to have score points as well.
If... we can hold them under 35 points, that might be a good effort by our defense and gives us a chance. Not going lie, this is a better team than most people expected. Probably better than "THEIR" coaches expected. But right now, lets take care of GT.
