Mens tennis at #31 in first computer rankings of the year

The first ITA computer rankings of the year were announced today.

Clemson comes in at #31. This is lower than I expected, I was thinking in the 20-25 range. But it’s because Michigan State has fallen to #33 and South Carolina is not even in the top 75 right now, so the strength of our two best wins are not as high as they were.

Hate to think about our ranking had we beaten Illinois, it would be as high as #15.

Yeah, hate to say but unc needs a new AD or something.

But congratulations to our Tigers. We're getting there. We played Illinois well. Just needed that one match to fall our way.

ACC matches are going to be fun. Glad you'll get to enjoy them. #31 is light years from where we were a few years back.

A couple tune-up matches Sunday before our road to the acc championship begins next Friday.

this weekend vs #19 Alabama and #35 Auburn so they can be boosted and give our win over them some ranking power.


Our next 7 matches are actually all winnable.

North Carolina

highly possibly we can be 15-1 heading into the big March 15 home match vs #15 Duke.

I think we were top 10 in the Kriese days at some points.

Highest I can remember since I have been following in depth (since about 2009) was #16 at one point in the 2014 season.

and we were as high as #2 in 1986 and in the top 5 most of the 86-87 seasons. More recently we were briefly #5 in 2006.

Got to #15 in 2013.
