Maybe if ND wants them in so bad they should agree to join themselves. Otherwise who cares what they want.

Let's assume McMurphy is right.

How many votes would it take to approve inviting them?
Why would any school not want them to join?
The only answer I can think of is they already have a plan to leave the ACC and adding more teams at this time would make it harder for them to implement that plan. So, find out who doesn't want to add Stanford and Cal and you'll have a list of teams that have an exit strategy.

12 of 15 have to vote yes. So it means at least 4 are leaning no

Or are hard no’s. Hopefully it’s more.

***** This signals that disagreement exists among the group. At least four schools are pushing back. League needs 12 votes of 15 members. *****
So, there are at least 4 teams that have an exit strategy.

Not Necessarily. As soon as you add more teams, those teams will get votes. Highly unlikely any teams just finding safe harbor are going to vote to disband the conference.
This is the equivalent of the ACC Commissioner trying to pack the court to get the ruling he wants by having a clear majority on his side. Right now, the margins are thin with 7 schools as part of the dissatisfied Magnificent 7. My understanding is it takes 8 to dissolve. If you add more teams, boom, the number you need to disband goes up.

Ok take this for what’s it’s worth but a guy on Twitter (I know, I know) says the 5 no votes are Clemson, FSU, Miami, VT, and NC State.
And UNC, Duke and trying to persuade VT and NCSU to join the yes camp.
Clemson, FSU and Miami are a hard no.
If true, kinda of surprised UNCheat isn’t the No camp.
