Looking for a place to eat in Atlanta after the game or early evening. Not a chain restaurant and not bar food. Ideas?

Doubt that place will be open long enough after game to enjoy a $300 meal. But it sounds great.

After Clemson beats JAWJA, I would be too stressed out from the close game to even think about food. Maybe a Happy Meal from McD's, if they still offer them.

Wisteria
Murphy's
La Tavola
Soto Soto
Wahoo
Leon's Full Service
Pasta Vino (nice outside patio)
La Grotta (another nice outside area, if you can get a reservation)
Basil's
Canoe
Ray's On The River
Hal's On Old Ivy
Valenza or Haven (adjacent to eash other)
Petite Violette
All are excellent, all have websites, for you to check their menus (& they vary as to what "direction" or area you are in / staying in - you may want to choose on the basis of YOUR post-game "geography"), some are "more expensive", some "less so", all have successfully passed "the test of time" in metro Atlanta. Check 'em out.
Or, if you just want a simple beer and a hamburger or hot dog, in an old "neighborhood" restaurant/bar that is an Atlanta classic, go to either Manuel's Tavern (since 1956) or Moe's & Joe's (since 1947), both in the Virginia/Highland area.

Thank you, MJ and question

Thank you for taking the time to list all these great looking places! I have looked at each one and you definitely know some good ones. Question: we are staying at the Omni so I was hoping to find something closer. Oh, and not Italian as we are eating at Lyla Lila on Friday night. Finally, my wife has several allergies so it needs to be a place that will accommodate her. Thanks again for your help, and GO TIGERS!

I would suggest taking an Uber and not trying to walk around the Omni. Some of the homeless population are quite aggressively panhandling on that area these days. They tend to stay away from MB Stadium and State Farm area but the other places down could have a bunch of them hitting you up and not liking to take no for an answer. It may not be as bad after the game because the DragonCon Cosplay crowd will be out in full force as well that day.

DownUnder Tiger,
If you enjoy steak, an option is Kevin Rathbun, a "high-end" steak place no further from the Omni than Lyla Lila, via Uber or Lyft. It is very good for steaks, but "Bring your wallet". Or, for that matter, several of the ones I previously listed (like Murphy's, or Wisteria) are not much further, maybe $12 or $15 each way on Uber. Also, and nearer to you (in the "downtown area", actually on Peachtree) is Ray's In The City, a "sister restaurant" to one I had previously mentioned (Ray's On The River, which is located "way north", and literally on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, one of only 2 such Atlanta-area restaurants - the other being Canoe - that are similarly situated), that is supposedly fine (I've never been there myself, to Ray's In The City, that is - candidly, I don't eat much "downtown", where many/most of the restaurants, in my view, cater to the "Business Traveler On Expense Account" trade, whereas I prefer - and this is most of what I listed earlier - more "further-out"/neighborhood restaurants, where lots of "locals" eat). There's also a decent seafood restaurant not "too far" from downtown, called "The Optimist", if you are more into seafood (having eaten Italian on Friday night).
If it were me, and I were where you are (& didn't want Italian), I'd probably Uber over to Wisteria, have a first cocktail sitting at the bar "chatting up the locals", then "move over" to eat dinner at my reserved table, then maybe another very short Uber to the corner of Virginia Avenue and Highland Avenue (the "center" of the nearby, "neat" intown neighborhood aptly named Virginia / Highland), where I'd have an ice cream dessert at a place there on the corner, walk up and down a block or two to "walk off all the calories", than a final Uber back to the Omni, for a nightcap.
Call 'em ahead, to see if they can accommodate your lady's allergies.
Hope that helps, and "Good luck!" MJM

Have you used the new Michelin guide to Atlanta? It’s full of restaurants, medium to high price. Take a look if you haven’t- the guide app is free. Full disclosure: I worked for Michelin a few years and had the privilege of traveling a few days with one of the inspectors in the UK.

This is a great list. Wisteria is one of my faves.
Would also recommend the Westside Provisions district.
- Superica (good Mexican) - Hattie B’s - Upbeet
Mr. c’s / The Local have the best wings.
I’d probably avoid hanging out down town after the game. Most restaurants that are good there are hard to find.
I’d also ask where you are staying / going home to as some of the places we might recommend might make your drive hella long back.

No matter which direction on any interstate you head out of Atlanta to drive home, every exit will have a Waffle House. Waffle House isn't really a "chain". Each one is unique in its own way, with regulars and staff that keep you entertained. A fine dining experience like no other.
Little known fact, the state of Georgia produces less peaches than both SC and CA, and it has less Chick-fil-A's than TX, however it leads the nation in Waffle Houses. Something they should be proud of.

I'll leave the restaurant recommendations to someone else, but I want to remind everyone that the stadium has very affordable concessions and the food isn't bad.

No lie. They have the cheapest concessions of any NFL stadium by far, and the restaurants in the stadium are required to charge the same prices they charge at their regular locations. Hot dogs are $2, nachos are $3, pretzels are $2, popcorn is $2, sodas are $2 with free refills. Chicken tenders and fries are $6.

I remember seeing that when the stadium opened. All the restaurants were going to charge the same price as their regular locations. Should be that way in every stadium.

Yeah I dropped 25 bucks on a Mac and cheese bowl and drink at the Charlotte FC game a few weeks back. Wish Tepper would be smart for the first time since bringing us a MLS team and lower dang prices. Arthur blank is doing something right in Atlanta.
