Martavis Bryant - Where He Belongs
Dec 8, 2014, 11:24 PM

It's funny how some Tiger fans believed that Martavis was an immature not-ready-for-prime-time player last year. Boy were they wrong.
Turns out Martavis is a player with potentially equal talent to Sammy Watkins. For whatever reason, Tajh focused on Sammy to the exclusion of a wide-open Martavis on dozens of plays throughout the season. It cost us points, 3rd down conversions, momentum, TD's and maybe games.
Spilt milk now and I'm sure Martavis has put it all way behind him with his successful pro career, but I just wanted to get that rant off my chest. Even early this year a fair percentage of T-Netters felt Martavis was better catching passes from Cole than from Big Ben. I hope that mythology has now been put to rest. Pittsburgh is a perfect fit for Martavis. So keep up the good work and save your money M.T. We're still pulling for you in Tiger Land!

I mean just to play devil's advocate, all Bryant's been asked to do is pretty much run as fast as he can in a straight line. I mean we all knew he was big and fast. Wait till he starts running the entire route tree before we crown him as elite.

It's worked out great for Martavis. Keep doing what he is doing and he will get that monster paycheck in a couple of years. Not a Steeler fan but I pull for our Tigers for life even after they leave us.

was pretty inconsistent. He dropped more than his share of balls. In the Ga opener last year, he had three drops and was a non-factor under the lights. Glad he's improved in the NFL, and this happens sometimes.

I'm glad he is having success and taking advantage of the opportunity. But it doesn't mean it was the correct decision.
He basically started out in the mail room and has worked his way up to middle management. Had he come back 1 more year he starts out in the Board Room. He's making good money now. 1 year later and he's making STUPID GOOD money.

His status wouldn't have improved by staying. Cole couldn't get the ball to anyone.

He has had some big moments and

a few growing pains in the 7 games he has been active. It isn't even fair to compare him with Sammy at this point. Martavis has Big Ben. Sammy has a career back up. Martavis has the best WR in the game right now taking the heat off of him. Sammy has Robert Woods?

Exactly - and as teams start keying on him, expect those numbers to drop. Sammy hit the scene with a huge splash, so it's impossible for him to stay incognito and every corner/safety wants to shut him down. Bryant, up until now, has been just another Steelers receiver. Don't get me wrong, Martavis is good - really good. But there's no comparing him and Sammy.

Coach tells him to run really fast in a straight line and QB throws it as far as he can. Only difference is that he has a better QB now. I'm sure he's catching on to the NFL game/speed, but he's not there yet.

I've never seen a college player defend Bryant, and always considered him to be way-undervalued. I said when he was finally drafted, that he was the best pick for the money in the entire draft. I hated that he never got enough balls thrown his way. Our coaches never realized his talent IMO.

happy for martavis

but he's not near sammy's overall talent level
martavis has great speed and great height..hes used both in pitt as they've pretty much sent him on streak routes with single coverage as antonio brown draws double teams
lets face it..martavis ended up in a much better situation than sammy and thats usually what happens to the best players when they go to the worst teams
the bills qb situation is awful and sammy is already the number 1 option at 21 years old..he doesn't have any antonio browns to open up the defense or big bens throwing him the ball

I hate Pittsburg, but it seems he and B-rape are developing quite a connection and I wish him nothing, but the best!

That's why he missed a wide open MB from time to time. Tajh would lock in on Sammy and force the ball in to him.

Its clearly a system thing...
Martavis is just not a good WR for the spread option...Martivis is a very good WR when going going verticle...
He is in a perfect offense with Steelers...I mean, absolutely perfect...
