I don't feel like reading 370 pages to find out what's in the bill, but on a bill of this magnitude it would have been more reasonable to have more Senators involved than the very few involved in crafting this bill.
This bill should never have been tied to Ukraine and Israeli funding though it apparently took that to get the Dems and Biden interested.
It was very unreasonable to craft this bill in private, reveal its contents on Sunday and expect a vote on Wednesday. There are too many parts to the border portion of the bill, much less in the Ukraine and Israel portions to expect a positive outcome.
Sane individuals would address border security first as one bill, doing whatever it takes to prevent illegals from setting foot in our country and rapidly deporting those that do manage to get in illegally.
Next would be bills related to Israel and a separate bill for Ukraine. We are also long overdue from Biden an explanation on what OUR goals are in Ukraine. The American people can't be expected to fund indefinitely a war without some explanation as to what the end game is.
It is also ridiculous how some members of Congress came out against the bill without having read it and for McConnell to lobby for the bill and then vote no.
Instead of carrying water for Trump and thereby kicking the can down the road for who knows how long, the responsible solution would have been to sit down, get funding for Israel and Ukraine explained and voted on separately, then with much wider participation rework the bill to secure the border and address other immigration issues.
If we had term limits, responsible people would come to compromise and actually get something done that would be good for America.
Biden could immediately tighten up things by reversing course and reinstating the EOs of Trump on the border. He won't do that for political reasons and Trump thinks it's a winner to blow up the entire process.
We need some adults on both sides of the aisle. We have very few.
