Check out what just happened after open. At 945 a rumor spreads about a 90 day tariff pause. SPY goes -5% to +2% in about 20 minutes. White House is then forced to say that rumor isn’t true, didn’t come from them. Boom, straight back down.

This is how starved investors are for any relief from the tariff madness. Even a Twitter rumor causes a 7% swing.

If you’re looking at unrealized losses in your portfolio, or you are having to get out, just remember there is one person and one person only to blame for this instability. All Trump has to do is come out and say, alright, we got what we wanted, tariffs are off, markets will skyrocket.

In my hopeful opinion...

This is a short term (3-6 month) issue. The news last night noted that over 50 countries are actively negotiating with the US on tariffs.

I also saw on BBC America that Australia is now fearing having billions in cheap Chinese #### dumped on them since the US will likely consume less. They are now thinking of doing the same thing we're doing.

Other than this sucking short term (and the idiotic way they are being applied) this appears to be doing what it needs to do and leveling the playing field.

If other countries want to #### us on tariffs, we can reciprocate. Otherwise, drop yours and we'll drop ours.

Trump what the impact of a pause could do for the markets.

7 point S&P swing on fake news, US equities are like a sportsbook with Don in charge. Eventually he’ll fold on this nonsense, I just hope his ego allows it to be sooner rather than later.

Comments from Kevin Hassett yesterday started getting circulated suggesting a possible 90 day tariff pause. The White House tweeted within half an hour that this was not actually happening.

If the markets tank, the bond market gets driven down as people flood it for a 'safe' place to park money.

If bonds are cheaper, we refi our debt at a lower rate.

We have a debt problem. Fixing it isn't going to be easy or fun.

So accepting the market crash & wealth loss? Whats the bright side of recessio?

If debt the problem, Trump and MAGA should balance their budgets as a first step.

Wish I bothered to look at the markets at open, it would have been easy pickings this morning. Bold Prediction, Sell-off starts around 3:30 cause nobody wants to get left hold the bag into after hours after the last 2 markets close. Rinse and repeat tomorrow, with each low pushing below the last, despite intra-day rallies.

I think it was a random twitter post, and the white house quickly shot it down, but not necessarily disagreeing either.

like with his and Melania's bitcoin. It also fits with the idea that the only reasoning that makes sense for what Trump is doing with the Tariffs is for it to make him money, because there's no other logical reason for doing it.

But, I'm sure there are hundreds of people looking into the activities of Trump, his companies/family members and those around him to see if they're profiting from this, so if that's what's happening, we'll hear about it.

Ya’ll give trump way too much credit.

He has average intelligence. He’s not dumb but he’s not smart. Middle of the road.

All of us have a long list of friends and business associates that would be a better president than Donald Trump, but the average person in the United States is smart enough to not get involved in presidential politics.

But that doesn’t mean Donald Trump is any smarter than the folks in your life.

Trump is a narcissist with average intelligence.

Don’t expect much stability or common sense coming from the White House for the rest of his administration.

Gonna be chaos.
