Louisville's starting cornerbacks are both 5' 8"

Sep 30, 2016, 11:44 AM

Our WRs need to step up in a big way.

Also, I say if Gallman struggles early, we should look to Choice and Feaster quickly and go with the hot hand. Our running game is going to be crucial in winning.

I see a fairly high scoring game and the a few plays deciding this game. DW4 will have his chance to have his Heisman moment.

This is gonna be good!

I'm still a little shocked at the way the running game has gone this year and the OLINE play. I really though the OLINE would be a big strength and we could run at will.

And RT hasn't been that great either.

2 out 5 Olinemen not playing well will do that.

Sep 30, 2016, 11:55 AM

those are the two new starters.

I'm surprised Fruhmorgan hasn't played that well, but Hearn has played awful. He whiffs consistently on pass protection and gets blown back on running plays. Gallman has essentially no running room running behind Hearn.

Auburn game??

I think the biggest problem with the OL is that, other than the Auburn game, we haven't had the same five guys play more than two consecutive series together in a game. Massive substitutions from start to finish in the Troy and SC State games. Not as many last Thursday, but still a good bit of shuffling to get guys more reps.

We need to keep the first team OL on the field together in the game tomorrow as long as they are healthy and the game is in doubt. They need as many reps as they can get as a unit when the game is on the line. That is the only way they are going to get better.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Our left tackle hasn't been stellar either.

Sep 30, 2016, 12:28 PM [ in reply to It's really one guy that is screwing it up. ]

As an example, Watched him turn a guy loose that was lined up right in front of him on a Gallman run left. Of course the guy made the tackle at the LOS. Saw similar things against Auburn and Troy.

True. Hopefully he can put it together as we know he's got the talent.

To the guys above who responded to me, who referred to the depth we have at RB, I do understand we have a lot of depth at the position, but I think Feaster possesses a unique big play ability that our other guys don't have...

...with all that said, there hasn't really been a need to use him as a secret weapon until tomorrow. With any luck, the coaches have something planned for him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

heard Scott Pagano yesterday say a few interesting things

Sep 30, 2016, 12:22 PM

he said he'll give UL 24 points but doesnt think they'll score more than 30. He also said Jackson is going to fumble a few times, because how loosely he holds the ball, and they're gonna target that. Finally, he said the DL has to play disciplined and contain him, if they don't, its gonna be a long night. He sounded confident, but slightly concerned.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: heard Scott Pagano yesterday say a few interesting things

Sep 30, 2016, 12:31 PM

There you go guys Scott Pagano said it. The only thing that would concern me if I were you is 24 pts is 61% less than we scored in any game all year in which LJ has not played all four quarters. LMAO

I really wish these guys would do some research and use facts.

Irrational Exuberance? Lets go with that!!! LOL Dont mean to #### anyone off just having fun!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: heard Scott Pagano yesterday say a few interesting things

Sep 30, 2016, 12:45 PM

Then enjoy seeing this little fact:

2015:
Baker Mayfield (-15 rush yds vs Clemson's D, 0 TD's)
Justin Thomas (3 yds vs Clemson's D)
Marquise Williams (81 yds vs Clemson's D...best one the entire year and still didn't break 100 yds, only 1 TD rushing)
Deshone Kiser (55 yds vs Clemson's D, only 1 rushing TD)
Louisville's entire rushing attack 2015 (8 yds for Jackson, only 19 total yards vs Clemson's D)
Jacoby Brisett (-2 yards vs Clemson's D)
Jake Coker (-20 yds vs Clemson's D...though he's not a running QB)

2016:
Jeremy Johnson (-18 yds vs Clemson's D 2016)
Sean White (-2 yds vs Clemson's D 2016)
Brandon Silvers (-8 yds vs Clemson's D)...oh, you thought that's how Troy scored?
Justin Thomas (-25 yds vs Clemson 2016)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: heard Scott Pagano yesterday say a few interesting things

Sep 30, 2016, 1:05 PM

Haha Love the stats and this is true. Lamar played three plays last year and completed one pass and ran for 8 yds. Although 8 yds per carry is low for LJ if he avg 8 yds per carry tomorrow I would be satisfied. haha

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: heard Scott Pagano yesterday say a few interesting things

Sep 30, 2016, 1:22 PM

It's not so much Lamar's minimal stats you should pay attention to in his 1 carry (with Clemson having hardly any footage of him, unlike this year) as much as the stats of several of the top duel threat/rushing threat QB's that are on that list (and how effective a rushing attack was by Louisville as a whole)....seeing that is Jackson's biggest strength by any pundit.

Oh, and forgot App State's Taylor Lamb, who happens to be #11 on this 2015 ending list:
https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/player-stat/qb-rating-ncaa?season_id=113

Taylor Lamb (8 yds rushing vs Clemson's D)

Notice there's a common player of the 2 years whose stats yr to yr went down (GT)?

Sure it wasnt so much the amount of research as it is the conclusion drawn from that research. Any research that exists results in us scoring 40+ with first teamers playing more than 59% of the game. Make sense?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

GT has averaged 398 yards a game

Sep 30, 2016, 1:08 PM

In their other three games. We held them to 124 yards in their house. That's 31% of their average.

Auburn has averaged 498 yards per game in the three games since we played them. We held them to 262 yards in their house. That's 53% of their average.

Who knows what will happen but you are acting like it's a statistics problem. This isn't Money Ball. Sometimes the difference between a 600 yard day and a 300 yard day is that extra half step you can't seem to get that was always there before.

We have the best defense you will have seen so far and it will be a mad house when your team is on offense. Maybe your team is that good and you hang a bunch of points on us, but it's silly to assume you will.

Absolutely Not!!! However we will move the ball and score. Your D is great, You discounting the talent and skill of Demarcus Walker, and FSU's O line is not smart. I am not telling you how to feel or what to believe, just what to expect Saturday.

Clemsons D is the best we faced thus far, but we are ar and away the best O and D you have faced all year. Contrarily we are not Troy, they put 386 against you in DV. I assure you and you should extpect we will do far better than than Troy!!! I am thinking you will likely keep us under 600 yards of toal offense and 5-6 TDs. That is in line with what you have done all season, but if you think Clemson is gonna come in and play significantly better , and we come in and play significantly worse than we played so far this season I will let you get back to sleep and to your dreams.

There's certainly a good chance Louisville continues at-will like it has all season, but two things about your post:

1. Do you expect him to say "We've got no chance...we just hope we don't die."?

2. Yes, it'd be 61% less than you've scored this year, but the Defensive S&P+ rankings of your opponents this year have been #122 (Charlotte), #101 (Syracuse), #68 (Florida State), and #63 (Marshall). So far this year, Clemson is ranked #1. Louisville has plenty of reason to be confident, but so does Clemson.

You do realize that Louisville's offense plays a big factor in their opponents poor stats?

So how was FSU already #59 BEFORE playing Louisville, then....the rest were all ranked below that prior to playing Louisville. Sorry to break that news to you.

So if you want to use facts then why can't use the defensive

stats, like points allowed? Do you know we held GT down like no other team EVER has in Johnson's tenure? I have no real idea how the game will turn out, but I do know you're overconfident and trying to use your teams data while ignoring ours.

Setting up to be a special day for Williams. Louisville will implode in the valley. Tigers by 10 or more.
