I think we can all see that DJ's head isn't quite in it. Quite a lot to handle for a 19/20 year old:
-College
-NIL pressure - BTW, this is the worst thing that has happened to CFB, ever. The funneled money from boosters is one thing, but the pressure to perform because of potential future money is way too much for underclassmen.
-Starting QB for a top program.
-Opening with a top 5 matchup and not performing your best. One minor mistake and its a pick 6.
-2 subpar performances.
-By the way, your parents are divorcing, 3 hours away.
Maybe with this declaration, he can begin the healing process. Couldn't his parents waited until after the season?

First time at the reigns of a major college program, eyes of the sports world watching, getting every mistake nitpicked and analyzed (mostly by people who've never once been in your shoes) and then dealing with this very major personal issue.
Yeah, definitely something to be factored in.
I've no doubt DJ is doing the best he can where he is and in the moment he has. I also have no doubt that he can do better. And I have no doubt that he will do better. Season ain't over yet!

DJ is much much closer to his mom than his dad.
No matter who initiated the divorce or if both sides are happy and know they are doing the right thing, DJ is going to be worrying about his mom because that's what a good son does when your mom's world is having major changes.

Yeah I saw that tweet last night and my first thought was ??. No matter how much we want to forget these guys are all humans. Feelings, flaws, and everything else can affect them. No matter what I hope DJ is doing well and hopefully his time on the field helps him to forget about his off the field life at least for a little while.

but it might explain some things with what is happening inside his head.
That's the biggest thing everyone is wondering why he looks so different so far this year from last year. Regression is not something we expect. If it's a mental distraction from spring to fall camp, kind of explains some things.
Rally around DJ and I expect him to be on an acceleration curve.
But no, it doesn't explain why the O-line whiffs on blocks. It's not like our O-Line has been all that for the past few years. Trevor made up for some of their deficiencies.

Seriously put yourself in DJ’s shoes. His dad blasts
out with glee his divorce being final for the world to see. This young man has to be hurting. We all need grace in our lives and I’d say especially now for our QB.

for his well being. As a parent with a child in college, I couldn't imagine what it would be like. I have faith that staff is counseling him. Sounds like the kid has a strong faith too.

I can't imagine how painful it would be to have strangers using something as tragic and painful and the destruction of my family to describe their lack of enjoyment in a sports contest. I pray that DJ finds grace in the moment to navigate his broken heart and that he knows perspective and relief comes from his relationship to his creator. I pray for his peace of mind and peace for his heart.
