3 out of 13 NCAAT appearances equals success? Thus far I’ve only seen some of you try to change the argument to compare to other sports or shift the argument somehow. Serious question: do any of you think making the NCAAT in 3 out of 13 years is successful?

Should a guy who can only make 3/13 NCAAs be paid more than 7/8ths of this year’s Elite Eight coaches. And essentially the same as the other. Seriously. FML.

They’ll say it’s the best you should expect at a place like Clemson that doesn’t adequately support basketball and underpays their head coach by paying him more than 7 of the 8 coaches in the Elite 8.
And of course there’s the turd fans, who have the unmitigated gall to desire a coach that’s better than Brad.
3 of 13 is probably MORE than one should expect.

The fact that the administration has allowed our coach to last 13 years kind of proves their point. If the administration was really serious about basketball and providing more support, that is where they would start.
Status quo = satisfied with the results...

If he simply kept getting extensions it would be one thing. But he keeps getting raises - large ones. Way above market value. No one making over $1 million a year needs cost of living raises but his are way larger than that anyway. Negligent is really the only word to use for our athletic departments handling of Brad Brownell.

It is kind of hard to believe. We dont make the big dance. Then get blown out as a number one seed in NIT. All we are left with is brownell for another year. How we ever expect a different outcome is something i just cant understand.

Purnell only missed the postseason (NiT or NCAA) once. Brownell was still missing the NIT in year 12. This #### is stupid.

There was a better case to fire him the year before our sweet 16 run than now.
Over the last 6 years we have had 4 very competitive teams. Brownell's best class he has recruited will be sophomores this year. His best player he has ever recruited is a senior and has 2 years of eligibility.
The fact that you haters can't acknowledge this is embarrassing.

Because it is Clemson, a school with no basketball history and some of the worst fans in the country. 23 wins, third place finish in ACC, 10 straight winning seasons, no off court issues, graduates players. #clemsongrit

The standard is the NCAA. You’re using a completely subjective word. They did not meet the standard. Do you think it’s acceptable, after arguing for years that his program is underfunded, to discover that he is paid more than 7 of the 8 Elite Eight coaches. And that the 8th, UConn’s Coach, is only paid $150,000 more. Of the other 7 - only Larranaga is within 1/2 million of Brownell. Perhaps, if there is any truth to our program being “underfunded”, it’s because our pos coach is siphoning all the money for himself.

Why are you deflecting. I've never "bragged on Purnell." I've used him as a counterpoint to Brownell's failures. Purnell appeared to have hit a ceiling and his departure presented us an opportunity to move the program forward. That did not happen. Achieving the standard 43% of the time is > 23% of the time.
Want to deflect away from that with another irrelevant aside?
Going to continue to ignore that Brad is grossly overpaid based on the compensation of this year's Elite Eight participants?

Yes. I believe firmly that he is now putting his self interest fully in front of the success of the program. Any short falls in "support" are tied up in his wholly undeserved salary. Then he and his friend the AD play martyr for not being selected - when everyone who has ever followed the tourney more than one year knew they wouldn't be. Then, the coup de grace, state plans for yet another massive facility investment pretending the one just completed is no longer adequate for a successful program. He has become a full blown grifter.

They were competitive at times and in some games. They were not very competitive in too many of the games against weaker opponents. That’s why they didn’t make the NCAA tournament.

Brad has to have time. Let's look at facts her.
1. Brad inherited a program on shambles that hadn't gone to a NCAA tourney in a 100 years.
2. He does not have facilities comparable to Furman,Creighton, FAU, or San diego state.
3. He does not make enough money. You honestly can't expect him to put in max effort at his salary.
4. Clemson is a football school. Teams like Clemson and Alabama don't get in NCAA basketball tournaments.
5. Brad was first seed in NIT. Let's don't talk about losing to last seed in first round, just dwell on he was #1 seed.
