Looks like the Panthers will have the #1 pick in the draft

They traded DJ Moore and multiple first- and second-round picks to the Bears for it. Who do you think they'll draft? Who do you think they should draft?

There’s not a single player in this draft worth that trade***

Hmm .. they didn’t need to move up to the first pick to get Levis. I think it’s either CJ Stroud (Colts were rumored to pick him 1st after moving up) or Young (a good QB but small). Hopefully they didn’t buy the hype with Richardson, heck of an athlete but needs a lot of work (Cam II).

2024 white level membermilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's nowhere close to Cam

Mar 11, 2023, 12:24 PM

Cam completely dominated CFB the year he played.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would take CJ over Bryce***

what a dumb year to do this… next year maybe with Caleb

1

Mar 10, 2023, 7:14 PM

Williams but this year QB is a crap shoot for anyone to be a good player. Unless they’re trying to go get a vet and this is part of the deal. That’s the only way this makes sense.

No one is trading those picks next year (at least not for what they gave the bears, next years draft capital is worth a lot more), Maye and Williams would be the top picks this year.

But if I'm a team with a vet that I'd deal, I feel like I could do more with two 1s, two 2s, and a serviceable WR than just that #1 pick where I'm going to get a Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud.

Apparently they really like Anthony Richardson

Mar 10, 2023, 7:58 PM

and this guy thinks it might happen

That seems pretty boneheaded because:
1. Mock drafts have him going somewhere around #9 which is exactly where CAR would be drafting.
2. Dude will be a bigger diva and distraction than Cam ever was.
3. I see him out of the league in three years.

Trading up to #1 to take a complete project

QB with extraordinarily high bust potential would be monumentally stupid.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bears are coming out way ahead

on this trade. No one in this draft is worth what the Panthers gave up.

Re: Looks like the Panthers will have the #1 pick in the draft

I’ve heard the coach wants Stroud and the owner wants Young. Who wins that discussion?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm 50/50 on them myself

Mar 11, 2023, 12:32 PM

Stroud had the measurables and is very accurate, but he hasn't shown great mobility.

Young has everything I would want in a QB except size. He's 5-10 and only 190-195 lbs. Aside from the obvious vision/tipped pass issues inside the pocket, I would be very concerned about his health. He definitely has that "it" factor though. I would've taken him over any other college QB last year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

both guys will be backups in 3 years***

Re: Looks like the Panthers will have the #1 pick in the draft

Mar 11, 2023, 9:09 AM

Loving cj stroud. He's got good physical measurables and is a proven commodity. Drafting Anthony Richardson could be a huge mjstake.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Problem i saw with Stroud is he goes hot and cold too much.

Mar 13, 2023, 9:02 AM

He tends to go through droughts and is inconsistent. Kinda like a better version of JT Barrett. The NFL is a monster for guys that are inconsistent at the basics.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My guess is Stroud.***

Re: Looks like the Panthers will have the #1 pick in the draft

Mar 11, 2023, 12:29 PM

The consensus thinking is that they'd take a QB at #1. You don't normally mortgage the farm for a defensive end. You might for the best left tackle ever born, or a generational guy like Barry Sanders (who didn't even go #1 in his own draft).

I feel like it'll be Stroud. I'd take him over Young, BUT I'd be more likely to hold off and grab Hooker in the fourth round. I think he'll be better than either, and I'd still have my draft collateral to do something in 2024 if Darnold or Hooker wasn't working out.

Re: Looks like the Panthers will have the #1 pick in the draft

Mar 11, 2023, 2:20 PM

I'm waiting for the next trade and the Panthers ending up with Aaron Rodgers.

Based on their history, one thing is for sure, it won't be anyone from Clemson
