I see where the women's team unfortunately did not make an NCAA Regional,the first time that has happen since the 2nd year of the program back in 2014-15(not counting the 2019-20 Covid season).8 straight seasons and 9 the last 10 seasons that the women's team had made at least a Regional. Hopefully the men's team will have a really good showing at the ACC Tournament because they too need it if they are gonna make a Regional.Right now heading into the ACC Tournament the Tigers have a 60-71-2 record vs the team in the 10 tournaments played this season.This years team is in the same situation as last seasons team when it had a losing record also heading into the ACC Tournament and then got their record to .500 after the ACC Tournament.Hopefully they can do that this week and maybe even better have a winning record because if the have losing record their season is done and the streak of 42 straight season in the NCAA Tournament for the program is over with... https://scoreboard.clippd.com/rankings/leaderboard?rankingType=Team&gender=Men&division=NCAA+Division+I&season=2025

3 - we win 12 or 72, but we lose 2 , so that's 73. Is that what you get too? 🤔

Hoping they play well. Backs are against the wall and have no choice but to play well if they are wanting to extend their season. Not sure if Byrd is the issue or what is going on with the golf program. It is as bad as far back as I can remember or at least kept up with it.

Nah, don't think it's Byrd. Heck, he's been around the program for 20 years.. so he did a lot of recruiting. Penley just had an uncanny ability to find talent. Somehow he was the master motivator. He always had 2 really good golfers that were consistent shooting in the 60s. Then had a few like we have now that'll give you a -1 or a +1 round. The last few years, we've had one on the team that occasionally shoots a 67 etc.
For whatever reason, the crop we've had the last several years just haven't taken the next step. I'd be elated if the Clemson media would interview Byrd and ask him the tough questions. Hopefully we'll get that and a deep dive after we miss the regional.
I think the answer you'd hear is NIL. I believe golf only gets 4 schollys that are split - a la baseball. We May have one Andrew on a full ride but I'd bet it's split. Sadly, I don't see any interest from the administration. Perhaps the shock of breaking a program record gets some fan ire.
That said, we have some potential young talent and hopefully more on the way.

Their final 9s did them in...went from middle of pack when making the turn to T-12th. The postseason streak is officially dead in my opinion b/c i don't see no recovering from this.

100 agree. Too many good teams like fsu that had a bad day at +3. They'll bounce back. Our seeding was spot on. Like you said in another post, worst season in a long time.
It was not a fun watch. I kept thinking any minute we'd see some red that'd give us a fighting chance. We finished in last place in strokes gained against par. Nc st had an eagle. Anyway, actually we've been pretty solid making birdies in most tournaments... and it was the relentless bogeys that'd get us. Today we had both.

Andrew Swanson is having a day. We need to close strong (druids be dammed) and then continue that to our 3rd round.
You know fsu and others will put a hard press to make the 8. I believe I'm correct in stating that it takes a top 2 or 3 in stroke play to move our NQS to. 500 or better... otherwise, we'll have to win to get in the regional.

Either way, it's impressive and future hope if we keep the good playing going.

For the final round of stroke play. Guess the hope is he'll provide a spark for final round.
@Clemgalalways, they need a very high finish in stroke play to get to .500 or better, otherwise they'd need to win in stroke play tourneys get the auto berth. Just wish they didn't dig such a hole not only on Thursday, but for the entire season as a whole.

Just have to win matchplay and get the auto qualifier. Can't believe we're so close to being on that .500 . All the tournaments and had we finished one position higher in any, we would have qualified. Definitely proud of the fight.
Crazier things have happened in matchplay. Maybe we're peaking at the right time.

Yes .... anything can happen in match play. I was in Atlanta at the tournament when we won, when FSU had John Pak, and on paper we should never won that championship.

We got a chance. Bump the rulz, Clemson IS a regional team. Uva won their match 5-0... so I'm thinking no way they can get up twice. But we won ours 5-0.
