Looking forward NIL and program needs

Jul 2, 2022, 8:32 AM

With conference talk, we can look back and say money has not helped schools be champions. And there is evidence from Columbia to Texas to ND that many teams had more money annually but did not get champions like Clemson who just made sure they built the right culture. Money was not everything. However, going forward how can money not be a significant influence with NIL. If schools basically have to fork out money like a million or so to keep a current player or recruit a four or five star just for your college to be a player, then money will matter more in this environment being created by ncaa. Clemson has to look at the future environment. If we can get $100 million per year like UCLA or USC instead of $40 million per year OR get $55 million per year with current SEC payouts that extra $20-60 million per year goes towards NiL bank correct? Where else will it come from with Clemson? We also need to see what NCAA decides on playoff rules, did those change? Each conference gets one voting right regardless of if it has 12 teams or 16 teams or 20. So on votes like conference expansion, unless ncaa changes voting or playoff rules that still has to be determined. So tv networks and playoff rules by ncaa still have influence. Clemson is the best team available and will have options. No need to panic. But if ACC cannot put together better tv deal for us then we may have to go so we can continue being champs in a NIL or transfer portal junk being created by ncaa future.

ACC money that goes to the school has NO connection to NIL. School cannot use money for NIL, period.
