A long time ago I would have been angry and whining like so many here are. I would have been stomping my feet and calling for the heads of all involved. And, yes, I would have been saying we gave them the game and that they didn't earn it. But somewhere along the line I grew up and realized that not only was football not the most important thing in life but that I was quite often being a hypocrite. If my team won, no matter how badly the other team played they never GAVE us the game. We earned it. We had better talent, execution and coaching. And if the other team claimed they gave us the game, well, how indignant I was. All of their flaws were caused by our superior talent and execution, don't you know? And sometimes that was the case and sometimes it wasn't. Sometimes the other team screws up and gives you a gift but it's still your responsibility to make something out of it. SC gave us a couple of gifts and we still lost. We didn't give them the game, they earned it. Exactly the same way we would have sat here and claimed we earned it in the face of them saying they gave away the game. We've been sloppy on offense this year in a lot of areas and been lucky the talent level of our opponents has been mediocre when we've struggled. Our defense isn't dominant like it has been and the numbers are skewed to the good because of several weak offenses. We've got a lot to clean up but Dabo isn't the problem and Streeter or Goodwin may not be either. Remember, Venebles has struggled with defense at Oklahoma this year giving up 40 plus to every team with a pulse on offense but then these aren't his recruits. But at Clemson these guys are his recruits. We may have just missed on recruiting and need to do better.

The attitude that it was always Clemson's poor play and its never that the other team's good play is the biggest reason it took me 18 years of living in South Carolina to become a Clemson fan.
If you don't know what being a poor sport is , right there you have it. If you can give the other team credit and be kind when you lose or win that is what good sports do regardless of the other team's behavior. The real a_holes get on here and deride their own team for losing to a team that played better than our team for a single game. Be thankful that a win for them is a huge deal. You complain about a 7-1 rivalry record?
Don't walk around talking about how aweful SC fans are. Look in the mirror and read your poor sport posts.

sticking with a horrible game plan. They didn't earn sticking with a QB that couldn't throw it in the ocean. They didn't earn receivers CONSISTENTLY breaking wide a$$ open on 3rd and long. We GAVE them those things.
They DID have sense enough to take advantage of our refusal to change the game plan, or the QB. That much, they earned.

They outplayed us in the second half, plain and simple. Their defense was better, their offense was better, and their special teams were better. Their coaching certainly was better. We turned it over and gave them gifts? Yes. But they did not give us gifts.
