I HAVE THIS GUT FEELING

Clemson is about to hit a 5 to 10-year stride of massive success on the grid-iron. Coach Swinney has the staff, the team has the roster and if they don't win it all and go undefeated this upcoming season, then the next 2 seasons beyond will be the tale of the story. However, I have a strong gut feeling that Clemson is about to create a lot of buyer's remorse for those who have built entire starting lineups using the portal and NIL. It's about to get really interesting for sure.

As opposed to the current 10 year stride of massive success that included multiple conference championships and two national championships?
That'd be cool.

2026 will be a big drop off in talent. Really need a strong recruiting class and some portal additions.

The moment we field a dominant defense is when its a possibility again

to be nationally dominant. Starts with that line. I credit those 2 natty's to christian wilkins and dexter lawrence and company for creating pressure using only 4 linemen and clogging up the middle giving no breathing room for any offense to control the line of scrimmage.
I've heard that saying ("you gotta control the line of scrimmage") for years and years and those games against alabama where they had elite OL's and elite RB's and still couldn't run up the middle. Finally got to see what that looked like and its corresponding results. Henry, Scarborough, Najee, Jacobs all had to go outside to get any running room. Heck we had the Davis twins at LB and didn't even need them. that line was outstanding and smart and just better than anybody.
Get that defense back and we back in the mix for sure.

The pieces are in place to have an exciting 2025 season. We will need to recruit high level “plug and play” players for 2026.

Strange, but I've had similar thoughts predicated upon the number

of our guys returning, and especially so after Wes was replaced.
I think our boys have a sixth sense that something BIG is about to happen on the gridiron.
Additionally, I posted some time ago that I think karma is going to set in big time within the media and among a boatload of other coaches when they realize that Dabo has had this thing figured out all along. Meaning, a lot of programs have been selling their souls for quick fixes, winding up building programs on quicksand, guaranteed to collapse. AND guess what? We're going to hear a lot of those people, including that Finebaum SOB, eating crow!
A lot of our younger folks have to understand that Clemson's hierarchy is dominated, controlled by dyed-in-the-wool Clemson people, and contrary to popular opinions, Clemson has a helll of a lot of people within ranks that control, possess boatloads of money. Our BOT has never been like the South Carolina BOT, typically rife with infighting. They are a tight-knit group of diehard loyalists with 100 percent dedication to Clemson, far enough away from the statehouse in Columbia to make their own decisions on our behalf free from next door political pressure. Thus, I have never believed that Clemson was doomed to failure in this new landscape of college sports, particularly, football.

Like the Robert Frost approach ...

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. RF
Some of the personnel management and resulting schemes over the past five seasons have been head scratching at times, but Coach Dabo (with his Robert Frost approach) and the Tiger team seem to be in a good position to "exit the wood" in fine shape in this upcoming 2025 season.
Props to ChestyPuller0311®, Mr. Brightside for positivity!

I feel the same way even though I believe we'll lose both coordinators within the next 5 years. I think Riley has at most 2 more years before he is offered his dream job coaching at one of the nations top coaching spots, maybe in Texas or Ohio.
IDK enough about Tom Allen to imagine what programs might be attractive to him but I'd be surprised if he held out on offers of the better jobs out there.
Imo, both coordinator hires were dream coordinators for us and dream jobs for the coordinators. I thin their success will speak volumes to others and replacing them won't be nearly as hard as finding them was.
Both coordinators were custom hires, imo, and Dabo's patience in putting their predecessors in the positions as stop gaps until they were found was a feat of magic. It's not as if we've been living in the slums for the last 15 years but once again, we are in the penthouse, imo.

Tom Allen was finding tons of success at Penn State but decided to accept the DC position at Clemson because he has family in Greenville. He's also stated that he no longer desires to be a head coach.
