Let me get this straight...

We would lock ourselves into (kill any options when other conference TV deals expire) this clown conference 5 more years (2031 to 2036) if we agree to an ACC deal? I would think hard and long about that path again. Locking yourself in for long periods of time with many moving parts around you is another recipe for disaster. JMO.

We had no choice, it was an ABC/ESPN option to extend. The schools had no say

Which should have been a red flag to any sane litigator...

Why? It was a TV option in the original 2016 contract, allowing ESPN an out after 10 years if they wanted.

Same thing as a "player option" in sports. The player can decide to opt out, or stay. There are also "team options" that work in the reverse.

I suggest everyone wait until all the information. Comes out. I have read several articles and listened to WCCP since this hit the wires a couple hours ago. Each one adds a little. It sounds as though Clemson's position, particularly if it continues to excel in football and basketball, is much improved financially and scheduling-wise, and there is a potentiallt more favorable exit plan/opportunity in 2030/2031.

Clemson gets locked into the current deal with ESPN while the BIG & SEC get new contracts for more money every 4 years. And Clemson agrees to drop its lawsuit in exchange for getting screwed again.
Where do I sign up for this.

Jim Barker (2013), Jim Clements (2016) and the Clemson BOT signed up for this.

That's not exactly true. The SEC signed a contract that runs all the way through 2034. They were just able to renegotiate their contract because they added Texas and oklahoma.

They were never going to win that lawsuit. It's flimsy.

They weren't getting out. They weren't winning that lawsuit. So who are you blaming here?

We were already locked in until 2036. That didn't change today.
