that just shows a total disregard for the well being of Clemson football. So instead of filling the 105 man roster with talented players that can add depth, we just make all walk ons scholarship players now? That is like taking a knife to a gun fight. Any school serious about football will have an advantage over us now.

Good grief, everyone we sign-up is not going to be a 5 Star. Cut Dabo and Hayes some slack. Hayes (3 Star) looks like he has some potential, and at 6'-4" 320 he could get some playing time as an interior lineman on the kicking team for PAT's and Field Goals.
You know he would look forward to every score and give it 110% blocking for kicks. A starting offensive tackle would be glad to get some rest after a TD on the sideline. If he develops and hits the weights, he could step up his game and be a valuable part of the team.
We have had plenty of 3 Stars make contributions over the years, and the same goes for Walk-On's, including Dabo. On a 105 man roster, everyone will never be a starter, and if he makes the Depth Chart, it would be a significant achievement for him. Let's see how he does, and what he can contribute.
I can't recall Dabo's son's ever muffing a snap for an extra point or field goal, and I appreciated their effort. The same goes for Venable's son's as well.
Go Tigers, Beat LSU!!

Just be glad we don’t have Tyreek Hill on staff or we’d need to file for a roster limit expansion

Plus how good you think #105 would be anyway?
Possible a freshman 3 star can contribute one day.

No one is ever going to have 105 high 4* or 5* on their roster. These kids aren't stupid. They also understand that they aren't stuck. At least not with Dabo. If they develop, Dabo will recognize them. This kid could turn out to be the next great player. Nothing wrong with having really good scout team that may contribute in 3 years or less.

I knew a young man that received a PWO from a much smaller school

They had a signing day event at his HS. Then reality hit. His position coach told him flat out that he would never see playing time in a real game, that they only played recruited players.
He agonized over the decision, but finally decided that it wasn't worth the grind to never see PT. He transferred schools. If I was him, I would have probably made the same decision.
You really have to love the game to be a PWO.

Any position coach that told a young man that they would never see playing time and they only played recruited players would soon be looking for another job. I'm all for leveling with these young men, but if they are good enough to walk on, then they are good enough to consider playing time if they work and develop.

People have no idea what it's like for the PWO guys. No swipe at the walk ons but many of those guys are in it because they love the game and want to stay in shape and it's cool to say you're on the team. Depending on your position, a PWO is a couple of twisted ankles, busted toes or torn up knees from being thrust into the lineup, ready or not, esp on lower levels like D2. My son accepted a PWO spot on a local D2 and it was rough. He learned really quickly that it was now a job and that if you weren't willing to sacrifice everything then it's time to hang up the cleats. He practiced more than the starters on some days because they were too banged up and needed rest or the coached rested them due to lack of depth. He had a few injuries in HS but in college, being on turf every day, messed up his knees and feet pretty bad. It ended up that he was involved with or had something football related 10 months out of the year all the while paying to be there. Once he realized if his GPA didn't get up and he'd lose a chunk of his financial aid he made the tough decision to hang it up.
He still misses it every day but not all the crap that comes with it LOL!

It's nice to add this kind of depth and not use up any scholarships.

Nothing at all wrong with having 4-5 guys like this on the roster. Keeps the family feel intact and as a 3 star absolutely has a potential for playing time. Anyone complaining about this is just looking for something to complain about

Interesting how a lot of the Clemson football staffer'ssons end up on the team as a walk on or a preferred walk on.

Have you shiat talkers ever been in the presence of our Tigers...all of them??? There are some on the team that look like they couldn't block up a toilet in an exlax factory and they are clearly not RB QB WR or a position player that is in toned shape. @6'3" and 250 or whatever his measurements are, he will be fine on the practice squad. That's where PWOs go. As stated before, if he hits the weights, gets on the dietary program, and works his way into backing up our starters, I'm all for it. Lord knows we haven't ever had injuries up front and needed someone to step up. Does "next man up" ring a bell? As far as being related, I don't give a shiat if he is related to Adolph Hitler himself so long as he is A Clemson Man that doesn't need an introduction. So f off naysayers, did you even read the article? 0 sacks allowed at the prep level as a senior. 3 as a junior. State champs. Multi sport man. Sounds tasty to me. Go Paws!!!

Don’t try to educate the complainers. They will never understand even the most basic aspects of walking on to a team- no team will get over 100 scholarship players into games and have it be meaningful.
