Lane Kiffen

Nov 15, 2022, 10:33 AM

Anyone else find it odd that he's about to be a HC at this 3rd SEC school (4th, as an SEC coach) in just over 10 years?

I know the SEC dwarfs the rest of the P5 with coaching changes but my God, are both parties that desperate for money/wins?

Surprisingly, he hasn't made his way to Gainsville or

Columbia yet ...

but he is still relatively young.

Don't want him with the coots, he might end up with teams like the one's Spurrier had for that good stretch.

If he did he wouldn’t stay but a year or 2. If he has left the jobs he already has he surely wouldn’t find a “home” in cootville.

The irony about the Spurrier comparison is

Nov 15, 2022, 11:44 AM [ in reply to Re: Lane Kiffen ]

that he may have never gotten off the ground in Columbia if we hadn't fired Tommy Bowden. Bowden had commits from three defensive recruits who flipped to Spurrier after we let him go. Gilmore is the only name that comes to mind at the moment but all three of them were critical cogs in the chicken's five year run. Add to that the fact that Gilmore being in Columbia instead of Clemson was a huge factor for Clowney being there.

Part B of the irony is that I'm pretty sure we would have not had the 11 year run that is still in progress if we had not fired Tommy Bowden.

He is too smart to come to Columbia at this stage of his career. Wait 15 years and he will take the job.

He will end there to die coach wise like Holtz and Spurrier.

I certainly don't want him in Columbia, prefer he stays at Ole Miss a long time.
