If I wanted to take the con side in a debate it would go like this:

1. By definition they aren't beating out guys wherever they come from. How are we supposed to take them and beat Bama?

2. If they do have requisite talent, did we offer the first time, and if not why not? If those reasons haven't changed, we lose more than we gain by taking them.

3. Even if the very occasional star is available, LSU won with portal guys, OU won with portal guys, and we see where they are today. You get the culture you build. If Lincoln Riley was HC at Clemson, sure, I'd say go to the portal. That's who he is. But then that's who we we would be. I don't want to see Dabo doing that.

If we are down on roster numbers, I'd rather see us 'oversign' next year. But sure, if we are short at a position more in numbers than in talent, and we don't have enough 4* guys on the board for the next signing year, maybe get a couple of fillers. But nothing more than that.

Other positions should be wide open - you gonna get playing time at WR, OL, DL, etc. Proven we rotate players.
