He has some quality offers from NC State and West Virginia, so that is a good thing.
In Basketball recruiting the best judge of talent / potential/ ability can sometimes come from the offer sheet.

impressed by his offer sheet so far. We have to start going after better players. Not going to get them if we don't go after them.

N.C. State
West Virginia
are both very good offers.....
Do you seriously think he should have Duke Kentucky and UNC offers? Because that is a pipe dream unless the guy grew up a Clemson fan.

We should offer every 4 and 5***** McDonalds all american HS players out there. One day we will luck up and find one that feels he is good enough to change the face of a program. There are players out there that thrive from a challenge and feels cocky enough to beat the odds. Those players get seen and play big time basketball no matter what team they played on in college. And Brownell is a good enough coach for a great player to take on a big challenge for. Get our facilities up to par, and we will pick up some of those players I do believe. Take KJ for instance, he carried our team, and look at how much better that made him. Good players that go to good teams just play to their ability. KJ leaned to play above his ability at Clemson. Not many teams wanted KJ out of HS, and he was one of the better Rookies in the NBA last year.

KJ is a poster child for the type of kid we DO get ...

He was not highly recruited and didn't have offers from the Dukes and the UNCs. That's why WE got him.
Clemson coaches can easily "offer" every McDonalds AA every year ... but, these kids have to be recruited, not just offered, and recruiting requires having something to put on the table that would cause a top player to forgo a scholarship at a big time hoops program in order to play for Clemson.
Exactly what would that "something" be in Clemson's case?

I will admit that I don't follow basketball recruiting like I do FB, but seems to me that we don't even offer 4/5 star players. HE ll if you don't try to compete, you never have a shot. It is my perception that we set our sights too low when recruiting players. Seems like we are recruiting to compete with the GW's and ECU's.

Actually, you DO want a shooter at Center

Not a long range shooter of course (bonus if he is, ie the guy from Wisconsin) ...
But when fed the ball, able to make the close in shots, power to rim, all of that
