well as football talent before making an offer. Now, we can debate on what decommitting from a school and committing to another says about character, but it is what it is as far as the recruiting game goes. Avoiding that situation is why Dabo does NOT want anyone to commit if they are not ready to stop taking visits to other schools and shut down their recruitment.

Wake Forest is a much different university than most big time football teams and maybe he just didn't feel comfortable there.

Seems like so many of the HS FB starts which are categorized as "Athletes" start out being Safeties.
Khalil Barnes isn't one of those big Safety prospects that can be transformed into a LB or semi-LB (think of Tanner Muse or Isiah Simmons).
The most versatile of the not-so-huge Safeties are really good in coverage ... like A.Mukuba.
It all reads like we really want him, so ... come on down Mr. Barnes!

What position will he likely play?
6-1 safety. Blew out his knee before his junior year and has only been playing as a DB a couple of years.

2021: Region 8-AAAA Player of the Year. Also an AJC and GACA first-team all-state selection. Recovered from ACL surgery, which happened prior to junior season. Totaled 30 tackles, 13 PBUs, 3 INT and 2 FFs on defense working mostly at CB. On offense, caught 50 passes for 771 yards and 9 TD while also rushing 22 times for 204 yards and 3 TD. Helped North Oconee go 10-4 and win a regional title in Georgia’s AAAA classification.
