Just rewatched last year's game

Jan 8, 2017, 8:08 PM

To get myself ready for tomorrow, I decided to rewatch last year's game (it is on youtube if you don't have it). In doing so, I saw many things that I had forgotten. They say football is a game of inches, and we missed out on so many little things that we can't do tomorrow. Many of things things directly led to a points differential. Here is a list to help jog your memory:

1) With us leading 14-7 in the 2nd and with the ball, we ran a wheel route to Ray Ray that got intercepted. If Watson floats the ball instead of throwing a rope, it's 6 points for us. They use the great field position to score TD (mistake-14 point swing)

2) At the end of the half, our receiver caught a ball around the 20 and gets the first down. However, the clock did not stop. to move the chains While arguing to the refs, Dabo did not use his last timeout for 10 seconds. So instead of having another play or two, we had to try a field goal that was missed. We at least could have gotten closer for the field goal. Mistake on refs, mistake on Dabo. (Mistake-3 points)

3) In third quarter with Bama up 21-14, we throw a pass into corner of endzone. Receiver (I believe Scott) could have had it for a touchdown but did not hang on. We had to settle for 3. (Mistake-4 points)

4) Early in the 4th, we had 1st down on their 40. After 2 plays, it was 3rd and 6. Instead of going for first down, Watson went for the homerun and was incomplete. A first down would have put us in field goal distance as well, so this call potentially cost 3 points. (Mistake- 3 points)

5) On their bid kickoff return, we had a guy miss a tackle at the 17, and then two of our guys (including the kicker) took horrible angles that allowed the TD. (Mistake-7 points)

6) Their last TD drive has 2 plays that still make me sick. On 2nd and 13 at their 22, they throw a swing pass to Howard. We miss a tackle that would have caused no gain, then 2 of our guys who are right there take horrible angles. Howard goes down sideline to 13. Then, we had them at 3rd and 3, and Coker roll out and appeared dead with Dodd in his face. However, Dodd couldn't make the play, Coker dives for first down, and they eventually score TD instead of field goal (Mistake-7 points possible if we make take on Howard, 4 points in Dodd can take Coker)

These mistakes add up to at least 35 point difference in the score. While you could argue Bama might have scored on some of their drives anyway, they only had one long scoring drive on us (first score of third quarter) Their other scores: 51 yard run Henry, TD on short field after INT, 2 bombs to Howard, kickoff return, final TD set up by Howard 65 yard catch.

As far as our drives, all were in excess of 50 yards, with most of them being more than 80 yards. The only mistake of Bama that directly led to points was a missed field goal.

We are going to make mistakes-everyone does. But these mistakes can not directly lead to their points or us not getting points. If we only have 1 turnover (face ti folks, we are going to have one) and this one not lead to a score, I don't see them getting long drives on us.

Take the under and the moneyline-its like stealing candy! Clemson 24-14.

I still have not rewatched it.

I have seen bits and pieces here and there unintentionally but have not found it within me to rehash that sickening feeling I had last year.

Just can't do it.

Eyes forward for 2017 and a different taste this time around.

Go Tigers!
