Just got done with jury duty

found the dude guilty of robbing the hotel he lived at.
Cops had a crystal clear security video of him robbing it, multiple eye witnesses saying "this is [Name Redacted], he lives in the room over there"
Cops figured that was enough evidence. Didn't get a search warrant or nothing because they had him on video.
Then they lose the video.
But when you have multiple people say this is him, tough to get over that hump.
One thing I learned, black people DO NOT trust cops. At all. The black people on jury kept going back and forth about what the cops didn't do.
Finally I stepped in and said "we can sit here and speculate about what did or did not happen all day, but that's not our job. Our job is to take the facts of the case based on evidence and witness testimony and decide did this guy do it or not"
Unanimously guilty.
I didn't do any research during the trail because we were told not to. Well I looked it up. Dude is also up for murder 1.
So I feel really good about my swaying people of the jury.

if this was one cop, or one eye witness then yeah we can question their statements.
But when 8 people (5 workers and 3 cops, all black) say they know this guy, look at the video showing his full face, and say, that's him... You can't ignore that because the police did ###### investigative work afterwards

Someone once asked Alfred Hitchcock what he feared, and he said "policemen", because they can lie and everyone believes them. And that was in England.
I had an experience where I was cited with 3 of my 16 year old HS buddies over a traffic violation, and this local small town cop stood and lied right to the judge's face when we showed up to court. He just made shid up, right there on the spot. Fortunately, the public defender knew the law better than the cop, and we walked. And while we were guilty of being ignorant, of the both the law and common sense at that age, we weren't malicious. But this cop sure was.

but not 3 cops and 5 workers.
And like I told them, to believe this isn't him we have to believe that either 1. there's some grand conspiracy against this one guy or 2. that 8 people came to the exact same wrong conclusion.
I just can't get there

The really young one looked at the foreman and said "you're telling me you've never been misidentified because you're black?"
Dude said "I'm telling you in 54 years I've never been misidentified. I've been followed, I've been stopped for no reason, but I've never been misidentified"

yeah, sounds like a good lawyer would have had a field day with the missing video, reasonable doubt, etc.
If it was a public defender, i'm guessing they didn't try to do anything with it.
