because he was the 3rd leading receiver...only 1 pass less than Bryant. He was 4th in all purpose yds. If you watch the games close enough, you would see that he was a heck of a blocker for Sammy and was the reason Sammy scored some touchdowns.
Sure, he had some fumbles at bad times, but I bet they would not have talked about as much if they had been against different teams. People tend to remember those moments and overlook what he did to help this team.
