or dispute at your leisure suit.
I believe that this is finally make or break year for Khaki Pants Hairball at Meechigan. I don't think anything less than 10-2 WITH a win over the Bucknuts, OR 11-1 with yet another loss to them, will be enough to keep his job. And, I don't think he pulls that Bucknut win rabbit out of his hat.

Khaki pants will benefit from relatively low expectations...

...and will go 9-3 (losing again to OSU) and retain his job for another year. Would be different if they were a preseason CFP contender and flopped (again). Just my two cents.

0-5 vs OSU 1-4 in bowl games

Only his in first season did Michigan finish ranked higher than they were in the preseason. Mich basically gives him a Dabo Swinney salary with Tommy Bowden results.
However, I think he believes the NIL has given him a start from the beginning redo. The playing field has changed and he’s probably sleazy enough to make it work.

People have been saying this for the last 2 years. Each year he fails, his demise becomes more likely.
If two losses is the cut line, Harjerk is cooked. IMO, Michigan is more likely to lose 6 games than only 2.
After taking a close look at their schedule, Michigan's 2nd game is Sat evening at home on ABC against Washington. The whole nation will be watching. If they win that one, perhaps they end up with only 3 losses. Otherwise, I can see the wheels falling off. It's possible they could finish the season with 6-game losing streak.

I'm way too heavy to go out on any limbs.

But, I do think 10 REGULAR SEASON wins is the MINIMUM it would take to keep his job. And, since I don't think they get there, HE GONE.

I, and a lot of Maize and Blue friends, are wondering why he’s lasted this long. Must have some incriminating photos of Board members.

For Jim to keep his job last year . . .

He took ~50% Pay Cut and had to revamp his staff . . . He now makes roughly 1/2 of Dabo’s salary . . . and yes, with Tommy Bowden results
Because of the salary reduction, I don’t think the seat is quite as hot . . .

I don’t understand what Michigan’s expectations are.

I’m shocked he has kept his job this long with the results he’s had. He bought some extra time by restructuring his contract, but I can’t imagine that he will keep his job much longer. He’s done nothing to inspire confidence or improved results.

If they DO fire him, who do they hire? I don't like the guy and he certainly is not winning per their tradition. But ... who is out there that is hirable and meets their standards? Their previous 2 hires didn't work out so well. It hurts me to say this, but he is probably a better HC than a lot of potential hires. I don't see them letting him go without a solid plan in place.

Here's the problem: It's not a good job.

No one has won there in over 20 years. The demographics of football have changed and the style of play has changed. Teams like Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska, and Tennessee have some significant challenges with recruiting. Big uglies on the OL and a good RB won't win anymore.
That said, the NIL thing will change all of this yet again and eventually end college football as we have known it. Until then, schools with deep pockets and alumni networks like Michigan will have a better chance than they have had recently.
Anyhow, end of the day, Khaki boy has a job as long as he wants it.

Michigan into your story. We were in a similar situation until Dabo came on the scene. We had a history of "3 yards and a cloud of dust" success under Saint Danniford, and then were mediocre to terrible for 20 years. If we can change the perception, so can Meechigan. But, it will take someone just as specially unique as Dabo to do it.
Edit: One major difference in the two stories, though. For all his regular season success at Meechigan, Bo Schembechler's bowl record was turribel.
