Time to invest or wait a bit longer?

Decent chunk of change sitting in savings waiting on appropriate buying opportunity. Is now a time to dip back into market or wait until things settle down.

Gambling. You just described gambling.

It's all a gamble and you are allowing speculation to determine your wealth. Liquid cash is where it's at right now. You all have been screaming about this for approximately 3 weeks, 21 days.
I have now had investments for approximately 7500 days. I am not worried about what is happening the next couple of weeks. I will sit tight, allow my financial advisor to work his magic (as always) and know that I have plenty of cash on hand.

There’s a difference between day trading or short term trading and investing for retirement that I think you’re missing here

I've made 53% day trading a small account over the last 2 days.

Can I do that long term? Well, I haven't so far; in fact, long term day-trading results have been a total fail. I'll let you know when I lose it all back this time. Just saying there has been some good opportunity over the last few days.

I've been buy and hold my entire life. Works out long term, but misses on short term swings up/down.

For me, it's been a whole lot of trial and error. Emphasis on error - but It's gotten better over time.
Learn basic support and resistance, and how to read price action, based largely on understanding candlestick charts.
Then, where my biggest fails have occurred, understand risk/reward before entering trades. Establish a stop loss target, making sure before entering that your potential gain (profit target) exceeds the potential loss, and STICK TO IT. It's critical to protect capital by taking small, manageble losses when trades don't go your way.
I think most successful traders do some form of the above.
There's ton of shid on YouTube, plenty enough to wipe out your life savings in the blink of an eye, but there is also some great information on there. Know that there is a big learning curve, which can be soul-crushing. There's no way to avoid risk; but it can and must be managed, even if you hace a good, workable "system".

I did really well on a few short dated puts and TSLZ shares yesterday, but both of those are playing with fire. I’m going to keep looking for smart quick short plays, I don’t think now is the time to go long.

I bought a few shares of LVS stock a few weeks ago.

It then went on like a two week winning streak so I didn't buy any more. Finally had two down days in a row so I bought a little bit more. Treaded water for a bit so I got a little bit more, now it is way down in a hole just like where you've got to keep the devil. May buy more tomorrow or Monday depending on how this pay period's spending ends up.

In times like these I tend to take extra liquidity and put toward debt. Unfortunately had to take out a new mortgage ~ 1 yr ago on a new place. So I'll probably focus on lowering that principal and hope rates drop enough to refi.
I'm also lucky to have worked most of my career for ESOPs so a lot of my "stock" is private. I only have about 25 to 30% retirement in the market. Then rest I've invested in Build to Rent clients I have. Those have paid very well past ~8 yrs.
