Oct 5, 2022, 1:14 PM

1. Ohio State

5. Georgia

I still don't understand why Michigan is ranked ahead of us.

Our resume this year is better than theirs.

That is a head-scratcher. Klatt did say that Michigan's game with Indiana this week could be a trap game.

Georgia would beat the dog shlt out of Michigan and probably beat Ohio State by 7 to 10 points on a neutral field.

The top 3 teams in the country are Alabama, Clemson and Georgia....rank them anyway you like.

Money…….selling Michigan has the potential to gather 4 times more eyeballs, than selling Clemson.

Because the team struggled early against inferior opponents and people still aren't big believers in Wake Forest, despite the rankings.

I'm not conspiracy theorist but it seems they're trying to create support for both Michigan and OhioSt to both make the playoffs over Clemson. Much like the idea of Georgia and Alabama both making the playoffs. On the CBS " Inside College Football " with Neuheisel , Brian Jones etc at least 2 maybe 3 of the 4 guests have them both in the playoffs right now. Maybe it's playing out as B1G = SEC with no conference clearly stronger than the other as they both expand and take over the game ? IDK

Klatt works for Fox. Fox Sports will begin to shove the Big10 down everyone's throat just as ESPN has done with the SEC.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Re: Joel Klatt's top 5

Oct 5, 2022, 2:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Joel Klatt's top 5 ]

It's not conspiracy, it's just plain bias.

I remember back in Clemson's former glory days--this would probably be very early 90's, when Hatfield was coaching DF's players--a reporter from Louisiana (I can't remember his name) was unusually frank in saying clearly that he would never under any circumstances vote an ACC team into the top of the rankings. (I've never heard any journalist say this since). This was in the wake of GT's shared natty and UVA's broken finger away from beating Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl. Clemson (not yet fallen off the wagon) wasn't carrying the entire conference.

Clemson has moved the needle on that bias a little bit. But these "experts" seem dearly to want the traditional powers to own those top spots. Then any SEC team that's winning. Maybe then any winning B1G team, but we have no examples, like we do with the SEC. Only then everybody else.

Because loser of Bama/UGA is way better than a 3-loss Pac12 or Big12 team...

This isn't organized professional sports with balanced scheduling. These are money-driven athletic conferences with a huge imbalance of power.

The new 12-team playoff will help with your gripe, but it's 12 teams, not 5, for a reason.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who said anything about putting a 1 loss UGA-Bama loser

Oct 5, 2022, 8:05 PM

below a three loss conference winner? In the playoff era, has there even been a 3 loss conference champ? I don't think so.

The problem is, they will push to put the UGA-Bama loser(and/or OhSt-MI loser) in over an undefeated or one loss winner from the ACC, PAC or Big 12. This should not happen!

I have said for years...no conference loser should even be considered over the conference champs, unless they have less losses than the said conference champ! Within the current 4 team CFP.

into the playoff twice and both of them have won the title.

2021 - Georgia loses in the SECCG to Bama, gets the 3 seed in the CFP, demolishes Michigan, and then beats Bama in the title game

2017 - Bama loses to Auburn on the last week of the season, finishes 11-1 and doesn't play in the SECCG, gets into the CFP as the 4 seed, blows out #1 Clemson, and then beats Georgia in the title game.

Assuming i see some more of week 1 and 2 Georgia this year rather than Kent St/Mizzou Georgia, and both Georgia and Bama are 12-0 going into the SECCG, i have absolutely no problem with the loser getting into the CFP.

Dawgs have been plagued with turnovers the last couple of games. The problem Saturday was Mizzou's D line dominated, at least the first 3 quarters. It was surprising seeing Georgia pushed around like that.

With Bama,UGA , Ohio St and Michigan looking like at worst 1 loss teams . We might get the shaft if somehow USC goes unbeaten. Let’s say it ends up Bama , Ohio st , USC and Clemson are unbeaten conf champs . With UGA and Michigan only losses to the champs . We might get left out.

Says “Winning on the road in SEC is overblown hype…”, and then ranks Michigan over Clemson after Mich win at unranked Iowa by a couple scores. Critical of UGA struggles against lesser team, but no mention of Mich struggle at home against an unranked Maryland (only up 24-19 with 9 min left in the game).

Our Tigers beat a RANKED Wake AT Wake, and a RANKED NCSU at home. I guess the three Mich blowouts against Hawaii, UConn and Colorado State - who are a combined 3-12 - are more impressive…..

Well, at least he has us at #4.

This is the same clown that said Clemson was a fraud after losing to Pitt at home. That Clemson being in the playoffs that year was “a joke.” Yet oddly he never backtracked after they proceeded to win the national championship a couple months later. Hard to take anything this “expert” says seriously
