It is over. Jimbo will take the.money and walk away. TAMU can hire and fire as it wishes and will fulfill its agreement to pay him the full contract. Simple as that. There will be no fight.

Jimbo doesn't have any problems. He's clearly owed his buyout and I haven't see any stories that A&M plans to fight it.

Texas A&M will be contractually obligated to pay Fisher 25% of his buyout in a lump sum due within 60 days of his firing, which amounts to Fisher cashing in roughly $19.3 million by mid-January of 2024.
Sixty days after that deadline passes, Texas A&M will be required to start paying Fisher the remaining amount across annual payments through the end of 2031, when his contract was set to expire. That amounts to eight annual payments of approximately $7.2 million to the former Aggies coach. As uncovered by The Athletic:

Plus, they will pay him regardless of what job he may or may not have in the out years. He can coach and still get paid. Jimmy Sexton did a fine job for him.

I’d I were A&M I would for sure pay that on/by Dec 31 just so his tax bill is the highest you can make it for 2023.

Most of my boss’ friends are Texas lawyers. My casual observation from being in close proximity to Texas lawyers is…..they can all talk for an hour, agree on nothing, but you could not nail down a single one of them on what they think.
One hour of talking = nothing is definite and anything is possible. THAT is what I’ve observed.
That’s where I’m coming from.

The only question is how the payments are structured.
