I hope both candidates will debate the issues

And not resort to personal attacks on each other.
I would like to have an entire debate where each candidate is not allowed to mention the other one. If they do, their microphone is immediately muted and they lose their turn.

also be banned _ if necessary by muting the mic.
I formally debated in HS .... most political debates are total BS devoid of fact checks and infested with one line theatrics. The downward trend in political debates has been going on for years.

Trump is incapable of debating issues, he has absolutely no clue what he is doing. He will stand on stage and tell everyone what a great job he doing, regardless of what the question is.

Most of what he says to infuriate the fake media infuriates the left too. It's as if he intends to attack voters at times. I know that's not his intentions but if he designed his presentations to anger the left he couldn't do a better job.
The strange part is that he has not changed much since he campaigned in 2016. He is exactly who America elected, a rude, crude NYC yankee who is careless with words.

"Nobody can objectively look at him over the last year and say he’s all there though." (You are so right about TheRump.) Read more: https://www.tigernet.com/forum/thread/Chris-Wallace-2008521#ixzz6VmS0uw5N
Why do you think someone in TheRump's admin had him take an Alzheimers scanning test???? (TheRump is not playing with a full deck.) Then TheRump went on FoxFakeNews, TWICE, and bragged about "acing" an IQ test. Chris Wallace had a copy of the test and asked TheRump about the difficulty of "circling the elephant", one of the test questions. TheRump bragged about how hard the test was. (The most difficult question was to count backwards from 100, by sevens.) I thought that Chris Wallace was going to fall on the floor and roll around laughing!!!)
As for TheRump recalling facts and figures, you have to know that his facts are usually wrong and are lies that he makes up on the spot. When the MSM press tries to call him on the lies, he goes belligerently wacko and calls them nasty names and/or ends the press conference. Of course, he has tried having journalists from the MSM removed, for calling-out his blatant lies and/or inaccuracies. But the courts have told the WH that removing journalists was against the constitution.
So, you're supporting an imbecile, that is a great lier. He's backed-up by FoxFakeNews (that continually repeats and backs his lies) until it sounds like truth to the cult-followers.
Sad for the cultists. I get that some still don't get it, even after he bungled the C-19 lack-of-preps, but I have to think intelligent Trumpists are racists or just ashamed to admit that they were conned.
(More Trump associates should be in jail, soon. Ivanka may be jailed for her part in the Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Of course, she and the rest of TheRumps should be jailed for treason and money laundering for Putin and friends. And, if TheRump loses the election, Bill Barr will soon be in jail.)

I think a major miscalculation by the Trump campaign...

was/is to play Biden up so much as senile/having dementia, etc...they have lowered the expectations bar so low for him. Now he comes out and makes a good speech and it seems like a GREAT speech because all we heard for weeks and weeks is that Biden can't string 3 words together.
To me it shows the level of desperation in the Trump campaign.

You don't need Trump to point it out to notice. I've watched multiple grandparents go down the same way, I think he's further along than most people want to admit.

his eyes you can tell. I call them 'surprised eyes', people on a bunch of drugs have them too. Reminds me of my grandmother when everybody was just starting to catch on, she'd function fine most of the time, then end up lost 3 miles from home.

Some can't see it but those in Joe's immediate circle see it enough to keep him hidden most of the time. That somewhat indicates the severity of his condition.
I do not think Joe will debate. As you said, granny functions just fine then you find her three miles down the road. A debate must be scheduled. Could you predict when granny is going to wander off into the abyss of confusion?
Neither can Joe's wife who I presume has the final say in the matter. I just don't see it happening, the risk could destroy Joe's campaign and the rewards are insignificant being that he still leads by healthy margins in most polls.
Thoughts?

I want leaders who are willing to change their mind. Because doing so is termed "flip-flopping" and is viewed negatively, most of the time, when asked, the politicians will try to pretend they never said the other thing. I'd rather the politicians say "Yes, I changed my mind on that because ________". My respect for such a politician would skyrocket.

That's because your frame of reference is the object of Diogenes lifelong search, an honest man. Politician are perceived by the rest of us as those who 'say whatever it takes,' to get elected then do whatever they want to get rich.
So if you make an attempt to select between Biden and Trump I suggest you pay no attention to what they say and review their history in office. What they have done is going to most likely reflect what they will do if elected.

All changings of one’s mind are no more uniformly good than they are uniformly bad.
There’s a massive difference in measured mindset shifts based on critical examination of a topic and potentially changing circumstances, when compared with finger-in-the air principle-less populism, and the latter is exactly what Biden has done in the past year against a decades old-body of evidence to the contrary.
And before anyone but-but’s me, yep, Trump has done the same and I don’t like it either.

I’ve lost count of the number of times an opponent has teed one up for him, and he just whiffs on it. I don’t know if it’s the lack of debate prep he does or lacking the mental agility to have neurons start firing and change gears to take the pathway you’ve just been gifted, but I suspect it’s both.
In fact, if I had to picture the 7th level of hellll, it would be serving as a debate prepper for either candidate.

made him run through this speech? I would have been absolutely shocked if he didn't deliver a perfectly delivered speech last night.
Everybody (well, most everybody) know that this is an issue. There is a lot of material that demonstrates he's struggling.
I think it is wise to hammer Joe on this. He can't help but take the bait.

And I never noticed anything off about him. Regardless, even if true, it's a sad thing to attack someone over. Since I've heard people talk about it, I've prayed that God would give him a clear mind to do what he needs to do.
