May God comfort you. My mother overcame Alzheimer's in 2016 when she went to heaven and joined Jesus and my dad and all her precious memories.
This is the best explanation I can give for taking care of a loved one one with Alzheimer's

It hadn't been long after I was deemed medically disabled from doing any job at any level bc of a severe work related back injury, and I was no longer employable. The lady that took care of my wifes mother bc she suffered with dementia, she called and said that she could no longer take care of my mother in law. Before the dementia, I thought she was the nicest, kindest lady that I had ever met, and I loved her just as she was my mother.
Anyway I wasn't able to work, so I told my wife, and her sisters and brothers that I would look after her, they agree to allow me to try it, and I have to say, they was the best decision I've ever made in my life even though she was a hand full, and it was constant bc she could get really out there at times bc her mind would go blant to where she didn't recognize anybody. I was with her everyday until she passed away one morning 8 months after I started taking care of her, and that was one of the hardest deaths I've went through during my lifetime.
They need every ounce of patients you can muster up, and they need every feeling of love that you can give them, and they deserve that. But I did talk to her doctor before we brought her to our home, and he told me that it was a must to be patient and calm with them bc they they get frightened really easy when they can't remember anybody. Honestly my singing will scare people, but when I would see that she was drifting into a negative place, I would hug her close and sing to her, and she would calm right back down. And my best advice I can possibly give to anyone taking care of a person with dementia, you have to give them your unconditional love and respect, and be calm with them every second.
Just remember that she is your mother, and if it was you in her condition, she would do everything in her power to take care of you better than anyone else would!!! My prayers are with you!!!

I understand how you feel. I am the major care giver for my mother in law. I does take a mental toll on a person even though you love that person. I will pray for you every day. I feel your pain and your struggle and pray God will give you strength to deal with taking care of this person. I know it is tuff since it is your mom. My mom had Parkinson’s which like Dementia is a cruel disease. I will pray for your mom to May God give her peace and comfort.
Best to you as you deal with caring for your mom.

Hang in there pal. God will not put more on you than you are able to handle. I feel your pain. My wife and I are dealing with the same issue with her mother. She’s in the early stages of it. Terrible to loose them mentally first then physically. God is your refuge and your rock. ????????????

I don't know if it happens with all that suffers from that terrible disease but, with my mother in law, her good memories would come back to her to the end. In fact, her thoughts up unto a few hours before she passed, they were the memories of her life, and she said a few hours before passing that she was ready to be with her parents in heaven, and that she had just dreamed about them. I have wondered since then, was it a dream, or did she really see them, and they were waiting to take her into heaven, and my wife has even said that she had wondered that same exact thing. I've also wondered if this was God's plan for making it easier for them to leave this life into the life of eternity in the kingdom of heaven...
As I witnessed all the steps that my mother in law went through with dementia, and after she has been gone from this earth, I have wondered a lot if the steps she went through, if it was the meaning of the King James Version of the 23d Psalm, bc there were the times of fear with her, but most of the time she was at peace, and she was a very religious lady that read her Bible every single day before the dementia had taken her ability to read her Bible....

Praying for you, too. My father-in-law has dementia; can't drive, can't remember he asked the exact same question he asked 15 minutes ago, loses all sorts of items. It's a challenge trying to care for them and have a normal life. Depending on the stage of advancement it's almost like having an adult 2 year old. All I can say is....get help. In home care is huge . Someone to come in and do daily chores. Don't think you have to do it all yourself.

couldn’t have done it alone long term.
Try to get some help so to get at least a few hours away so you can go out or get away. Maybe a trusted neighbor, friend or church member could relieve you.
I miss my Mom and those last 18 months were tough but worth the time with her in any condition.

The most difficult part is understanding how the disease ravages the victim's mind, completely altering personality. They become entirely different in words and actions, thus requiring an enormous mental, emotional and physical strength from caregivers.
Know that many others have endured and are enduring the trials and tribulations you are and support completely your efforts.

Thank you for your support in these difficult times.
I am so sad and love her so much but her life is so difficult for me to just sit and watch.
Sometimes I have to go outside and cry so she won't see me.
She is a beautiful Christian woman and hate to see her suffer.

My sister and I find ourselves in this same situation.
Alzheimers / Dementia is a terrible disease to watch progress. Our Mom broke her hip about 3 years ago and we suspect this is when things started going south. Really fell off of a cliff about 1 year ago and currently does not know any of us. This includes my 84 year old Dad to whom she has been married for 62 years.
My prayers are there for you and your family. I hope you stay strong for her during this very trying period.
